Victoria Cross Heroes, a review by Rich

9/11

Victoria Cross Heroes

"The most democratic and at the same time the most exclusive all orders of chivalry - the most enviable order of the Victoria Cross."

Edward VIII (when Prince of Wales)

Seventy years after that statement, Edward's great nephew, HRH Prince Charles, introduces the definitive history and a landmark series to commemorate and celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross. It pays fitting tribute to the men who have been awarded the highest medal for gallantry. As President of the VC and GC Association and with the Royal Family's long connection with Britain's armed forces, the Prince believes the medal has a particular resonance and significance.

It was important for me to watch such a programme on Remembrance Sunday, and it is humbling to hear of such brave men and women who have shown such valour in their countries service. In truth the dvd was exceptionally long and at times rather boring, the re-enactments were 'budget' at best, and it stuttered between various storylines. It would have made a much better 60 or 90 minute feature.

Dead Silence, a review by addicted2dvd

Dead Silence
From the writers and director of 'SAW' comes a new thriller of relentless terror! Ever since Mary Shaw was hunted down and killed, the small town of Ravens Fair has been haunted by horrific deaths. When a local's wife is brutally murdered, he returns home to unravel the terrifying legend of Mary Shaw and the reason why when you see her, you should never, ever scream.

My Thoughts:
This makes the 9th movie I watched this weekend... and I believe this is the best one I watched yet! This movie was great! I enjoyed it immensely. This is the perfect movie to watch late at night with all the lights out. I really liked that this one really wasn't about killer dummies... but was actually a ghost story. This is a movie that I will be watching again... I am sure many times to come. This is one I would highly recommend to any horror fan!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 5
Blood Ties
The Scooby Gang discusses plans for Buffy's birthday and dealing with Glory. Giles reveals that Glory is the god of a demon dimension and in order to stay in human form, she needs to suck energy from humans, leaving them insane. The gang starts asking questions about The Key and Buffy finally breaks down and tells them the truth about Dawn.

My Thoughts:
A good episode. This season with Glory is a good season... but not what I would call a favorite. I liked how Michelle Trachtenberg portrayed Dawn in this episode... where she finds out the truth about herself. And even though I didn't care as much for this season as I did some of them... I must admit all the fights with Glory (including the one in this episode) were always good.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5
