Kick-Ass, a review by dfmorgan

Kick-Ass

Year: 2010
Director: Matthew Vaughn
CastOverviewWatched: 10th Sep 2010
My Thoughts: Following the rave reception this film received here I was looking forward to sitting down and watching it. However as a long-time Daily Mail reader I have usually found that I can trust Christopher Tookey's film reviews and again, with this film, he hasn't let me down. What a total letdown I couldn't find any redeeming features about this film it was just a great big steaming cow-pat of poo!

My Rating: Sorry it has to be 0

The above was written as a joke because so many people here raved about this film. Below is my real thoughts and rating which were originally spoiler tagged to hide them from general view.

My Real Thoughts: What an immensely fun film. I thought that all the main characters came over well and am looking forward to watching it again very soon. As to Mr. Tookey's reviews - Yes I do trust them as, in general, if he dislikes a film I quite often like them and vice versa some he has rated highly I have found to be boring or lacking in the enjoyment factor.

My Real Rating: A very enjoyable 4

Dave

Edited to remove spoiler tag around My Real Thoughts and Rating and to add little expanation between both sets of thoughts and ratings.

The Lost Boys: The Tribe, a review by addicted2dvd

Title: Lost Boys: The Tribe
Movie Count: 29
TV Ep Count: 6
Time Started: 10am
Plot:
Risking everything in search of the ultimate rush is fun when you know you can't die. 'Angus Sutherland', taking up where brother Kiefer left off in the original cult favorite, is the lead vampire in this modern reimagining of 'The Lost Boys'. The seaside village of Luna Bay is rife with outcasts and plagued by an outbreak of missing persons. As the sun sets, the Tribe rises: a group of adrenalin-fueled, thrill-crazed vampires tears up the surf and the streets with nonstop action. But when a champion surfer ('Tad Hilgenbrinck') and his sister ('Autumn Reeser') move in, dark secrets erupt into hot-blooded passions and full-blooded fear. Helping fight the forces of hell: 'Corey Feldman' in his signature role of vampire hunter Edgar Frog. Once you join the Tribe, there's no turning back.

My Thoughts:
I have heard nothing but terrible things about this movie... but I loved the first one so much that I had to see this one for myself. So I went into this movie hoping to like it... but expecting to hate it.And maybe this attitude going into it is what helped me... because I enjoyed this movie. No... it is not nearly as good as the first one... but it is a decent vampire movie. I was worried when I bought this movie... but at least I am not sorry I got it.

My Rating
Out of a Possible 5

"Big Bang Theory" Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Slipped in a couple episodes.... need to get this last disc watched this week.

13. The Bat Jar Conjecture
Sheldon is the MVP on the guys' Physics Bowl team: "Most Vain Physicist."

My Thoughts:
In my opinion this one is only an OK episode. I actually didn't laugh a single time while watching it. It was good to see the character of Leslie back in the episode though.

14. The Nerdvana Annihilation
Leonard is thrilled with his prop Time Machine from the 1960 film, until Penny tells him it's unhip to play Morlocks and Elois.

My Thoughts:
This is another one that in my opinion even though it was good... I didn't find it as good as the previous episodes.  Once again there was just no parts that actually made me laugh in this episode.

Unfortunately a couple episodes that just didn't do it for me this time. Hopefully the next I watch will be better.
