Alien Nation: Body and Soul, a review by addicted2dvdAlien Nation: Body and Soul Sikes and Francisco investigate the compelling case of a mysterious girl who appears to be half-human and half-Tenctonese, perhaps the first of her kind. And, wanting to take their relationship to the next level, Sikes and his Newcomer love interest Cathy must learn the basics of interspecies physiology. My Thoughts: This is the second of five Alien Nation reunion movies. It is a good movie... with a nice collection of extras. With some story lines this one is taking over where the last one left off... giving it a real feel as if it is part of the series instead of a stand alone movie. I like that... makes for much more enjoyable watching. This DVD also has a nice little collection of extras which I haven't had the chance to check out... unfortunately there is no trailers for the movies on the discs. (From Weekend Movie Marathon: TV Show Reunion Movies on June 14th, 2008) Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell, a review by Danae CassandraGoke, Body Snatcher from Hell (Kyuketsuki Gokemidoro) Year of Release: 1968 Directed By: Hajime Sato Starring: Teruo Yoshida, Tomomi Sato, Hideo Ko, Masaya Takahashi, Nobuo Kaneko, Eizo Kitamura Genre: Horror, Science-Fiction Overview:Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell is a pulpy, apocalyptic gross-out. My Thoughts: This a bleak, heavily political, sci-fi horror. It's also a study of what happens to people in crisis situations, and how a crisis makes people show their true nature. Some stay strong in their morals, others crumble, and others will try everything to save themselves, including at the expense of someone else. Also, some scream. Hello, most annoying trope of horror movies - the useless, screaming female! The effects and some of the plot points are rather trippy; this is firmly in B-movie territory. Still, it rises above the average B-movie of its time with its commentaries on Vietnam, Hiroshima, and political corruption. There's a lot more going on here than most B-movies. That also makes it very much a product of its time. It hasn't exactly aged well. Worth seeing for the B-movie enthusiast however. Fire Original Air Date: December 17, 1993 Mulder and Scully investigate an unusual murder suspect - A man who has the ability to start fires using only his mind. Guest Stars: Amanda Pays as Phoebe Green Mark Sheppard as Cecil L'ively / Bob Dan Lett as Sir Malcolm Marsden Laurie Paton as Lady Malcolm Duncan Fraser as Beatty My Thoughts: Once again... I spot someone from another series that I didn't realized was in this before today. This time I am talking about the very attractive Amanda Pays who co-starred in The Flash. This is another excellent episode that I enjoyed every second of.. My Rating: (From The X-Files Marathon on March 30th, 2010) |
