Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, a review by Danae CassandraRudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Year of Release: 1964 Directed By: Larry Roemer Starring: Burl Ives, Larry Mann, Billy Richards, Paul Soles, Stan Francis Genre: Fantasy, Musical, Animation, Television Overview: Do you remember when... Rudolph visited the Island of Misfit Toys, and Santa asked Rudolph to guide his sleigh on Christmas Eve? Share the magic of this Original Christmas Classic told and sung by Burl Ives! My Thoughts: This was THE Christmas special when I was a kid. It was the one I searched for in the TV Guide, eagerly making sure I had control of the TV for that hour on that day. But all three generations of our family would gather round to watch. I haven't missed a year since the 70's, and this still holds up perfectly. The blu-ray has beautiful color and clarity, and is well worth the upgrade for those who still have this on DVD. Stars: The Dogs Max DJ Timba Maya Plot: The unforgiving terrain of Antarctica comes to life through the wonder of Blu-ray Disc technology in this amazing tale of courage and loyalty. Eight incredible dogs, left behind when their research team is forced to flee, band together to survive the subzero elements that blister the screen in eye-popping 1080p. The astonishing sound quality of 5.1 48 kHz, 16-bit uncompressed audio will have you practically feeling the wind chill factor as guide Jerry (Paul Walker) races against time to save his four-legged friends. Experience this heart-pounding adventure like never before through the magic of Blu-ray High Definition. Extras: My Thoughts: This film I have mixed feelings for. On the one hand the visuals were gorgeous and the dogs were great. But on the other hand most of the cast could have done much better. Don't get me wrong... I found it worth the time put in to watch it. But it isn't one I will feel the need to rewatch often. It just felt like most the cast was phone it in on this one. And that did take a little away from the film. Rating: (From The Alphabet Marathon: Blu-ray Edition on January 16th, 2016) Hearts Afire: The Complete Second Season, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: John Ritter as John Hartman Markie Post as Georgie Anne Lahti Hartman Billy Bob Thornton as Billy Bob Davis Leslie Jordan as Lonnie Garr Conchata Ferrell as Madeline Stoessinger Extras:
My Thoughts: Just finished off the second season of Hearts Afire. They pretty much changed the entire series. Moved them away from Capital Hill... moving them to the small town John and Billy Bob grew up in. I found I am enjoying this new format a bit more then what they had for the first season. I was never much of a fan of the Senator character they all worked for in the first season. But I really enjoy the new characters of Madeline Stoessinger and Lonnie Garr. Definitely an improvement over the first season. Now I am looking forward to starting season 3.My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2dvd's Random TV Series Watched on November 18th, 2011) |
