Bowfinger, a review by TomTo keep my reviews a little more at one place, I will post my monthly movie marathon entries here and link the entries in my marathon list to here. Title: Bowfinger Year: 1999 Director: Frank Oz Rating: PG-13 Length: 97 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1 , English: DTS 5.1 , French: Dolby Digital Surround , Commentary: Dolby Digital Stereo Subtitles: English Stars: Steve Martin Eddie Murphy Eddie Murphy Heather Graham Christine Baranski Plot: How does Bobby Bowfinger ('Steve Martin'), Hollywood's least successful director, get Kit Ramsey ('Eddie Murphy'), Hollywood's biggest star, in his ultra low-budget film? Any way he can. With an ingenious scheme and the help of Kit's eager and nerdy brother Jiff, an ambitious and sexy wannabe ('Heather Graham') and an over-the-hill diva ('Christine Baranski'), Bowfinger sets out to trick Kit Ramsey into the performance of a lifetime. Enjoy the fun with Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin - together for the first time in the hit comedy 'BOWFINGER'. Extras: Commentary Deleted Scenes DVD-ROM Content Featurettes Outtakes Production Notes Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: I was not sure, if I had seen this movie before. But seeing it now, I remember having it seen on TV a few years back. This is a really good comedy. I properly didn't appreciate it that much when I last saw it (maybe it was the German dub at fault).Probably the only good movie Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy have done the last 10 years. Eddie Murphy is doing his dual role really well. The role of Bowfinger is a perfect fit for Steve Martin. Heather Graham does the naive country girl (who turns out to be not so naive) well. Terence Stamp was really fitting as the leader of the Scientology-like cult. Seeing him here I wonder, why they only use his voice for Jor-El in Smallville. I always had General Zod in mind before when I thought of him, but is look (at least in 1999 when this movie was made) would be perfect for the role of Jor-El. My Thoughts: This movie is a double-dip for me. When you read my old review for this, you will see that I talked a lot more about how horrible the transfer is, than I did about the movie. Now Rapid Eyes Movie released it, who is reliable to bring decent transfers of Bollywood movie. This is no exception. I am glad I double-dipped.I still enjoyed the movie as much as I did the first time around. Maybe even more so. Rani and Shah Rukh were great as always. My favorite song from this movie is Minnat Kare, which I bought a long time ago on iTunes and still enjoy listening to it. Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on June 8th, 2012) The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ DoenaWhat's the show about? Every morning Gary Hobson gets his paper delivered by a cat. And if this weren't weird enough, it's not the paper from today - it's the paper from tomorrow. And every day Gary and his friends try to prevent any disaster he reads about and that are about to happen. "Pilot" Gary is a not so successful stock broker who lives in a hotel room. His wife has thrown him out and has filed for divorce. Then a cat "delivers" a paper, he reads it and throws it away. It takes a while for him to figure out that something was wrong - or very right - with that paper. Luckily for him, he gets a new one the next day. Now he can hit the race tracks. But he has overlooked more urgent news than the sports results... My Opinion I really liked that show. Kyle Chandler (now on Friday Night Lights) is a very likeable guy and they always found new twists to make his day an adventure. And I also liked his friends, especially Fisher Stevens (The Plague in Hackers) who always tried to make a little profit on the sideline but came through when he was needed.
