The Imitation Game, a review by Antares

The Imitation Game (2014) 74/100 - When they put up on the screen, "based upon a true story", you know that the truth will only be hinted at. And that's the main problem with this film, as the entertainment quotient must be factored into the equation. Sadly, that quotient is the main factor in the screenplay and segments of the film were overly simplistic. I didn't expect it to be anymore or less than what I watched. Some good acting, brief moments of great dialog, but more of a CliffsNotes version of the actual story. If this film had been made back in the 70's, it would have been a whole lot more cerebral and for my money, more interesting and entertaining.

Teal = Masterpiece
Dark Green = Classic or someday will be
Lime Green = A good, entertaining film
Orange = Average
Red = Cinemuck
Brown = The color of crap, which this film is

Zoom: Academy for Superheroes, a review by Rogmeister

Zoom: Academy for Superheroes
Cast: Tim Allen, Courteney Cox, Chevy Chase, Rip Torn

I wasn't quite sure what to make of this but I wanted to get me a real "Z" movie I could include in this year's A-Z marathon...and so I chose this one!  What else would I choose?  Zombie High?  Zuma Beach?  I guess it came down to this, Zombieland or Zulu Dawn.  Since I like comedies and I like both Tim Allen and Courteney Cox, I decided to get this one...besides, Courteney doesn't make many feature films, does she?

This started off strangely enough and it took me awhile to figure out just what was going on.  I soon gathered that Tim Allen's Jack Shepherd was a former super-hero who had lost all his powers but this secret government group wants him to guide a new bunch of young super-heroes (from a 6-year old girl to teenagers).  There's this guy in there that was a weird-looking version of Chevy Chase...then I realized it WAS Chevy Chase!  The film has an odd look to it's cinematography...going for that comic book look, I guess.  Overall, I didn't hate the movie, but I didn't love it either.  I guess I'm somewhere in the middle of this.  I'll give it a  :) I guess.  Maybe I'll like it more the next time?

The OC: The Complete Series, a review by addicted2dvd

The OC: The Complete Series

Well, I just finished off the entire set (except for the last couple bonus features discs)... and I must say Wow! What a ride! I was worried about the final season... but turns out I enjoyed it quite a bit. Wasn't as good as the first 2 seasons... but it was just as good as the third season. And I have to say... I am so relieved that the series had a proper ending. Going into it I didn't know if it was canceled out of nowhere or if the series had closure. The series finale even went as far as showing how all the main characters of the series ended up... years into the future. I always liked when series did that.

Once again I need to thank my daughter for getting me this complete series set for my birthday... I thought it was amazing!
