Highlander: The Source, a review by TomTitle: Highlander: The Source Year: 2007 Director: Brett Leonard Rating: R Length: 86 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1 , English: Dolby Digital Surround Subtitles: English, Spanish Stars: Adrian Paul Thekla Reuten Cristian Solimeno Peter Wingfield Jim Byrnes Plot: Immortals, they have secretly dwelt among us for thousands of years but their origins have been shrouded in mystery. The answers, Prophets say, are to be found in The Source. The last band of eternal warriors, lead by Duncan MacLeod, the Highlander, have set out on a treacherous quest to find the origin of their immortality. But to learn the truth, they must first defeat The Guardian of the Source, a powerful killer who will destroy all who seek its secrets. Extras: Closed Captioned Documentary Featurettes Scene Access Storyboard Comparisons Trailers Video Game Sneak Peak My Thoughts: "How bad can it be?", I thought. After only reading bad reviews about this movie, I expected the worst. This movie is bad, but not as bad as I had expected. But nevertheless I cannot recommend it one bit. The Highlander franchise doesn't have a good track record when it comes to movies. After one good movie, other movies followed which seemed to have forgotten what Highlander is about. The TV series, although not necessarily of top-notch quality, did get it, what Highlander is about and what fans wanted to see. Now this movie has again forgotten it. No real flashbacks to the past about MacLeod, badly choreographed sword fights. And a story which is worse than any episode of the TV series. And another story point which really bothered me: Duncan has married a mortal woman, who knew about him and also that he couldn't get children. But then she left him, because she wanted to have children. In what day and age are we? Never heard of adoption or artificial insemination? Couldn't really have been love then. And a movie which has to end on a recap of the entire movie because of fear you wouldn't understand the ending otherwise. Always a bad sign. Frank Devereaux Brandon Call ... Billy Devereaux Noble Willingham ... MacCready Lisa Blount ... Annie Winchester Meg Foster ... Lynn Devereaux Synopsis: Nick Parker was blinded during the Vietnam War but he's come to live with it. The locals have taught him to compensate it and even how to use a sword. After many years he tries to contact an old army friend of his but Frank is in deep trouble. He owes people money and they force him to create designer drugs. When he doesn't want to cooperate they kill his wife and try to take his son. But they didn't anticipate that blind man showing up. My Opinion: I always liked this movie. The acting isn't exactly the best but I like the relationship between Nick and Billy; their bantering in the beginning and their friendship in the end. I also like all the fights because it looks different from what a seeing man would do. Ice Original Air Date: November 5, 1993 Mulder, Scully and team of doctors and scientists go to Alaska and investigate a parasitic wormlike creature which alters behaviour and eventually leads to death. Guest Stars: Xander Berkeley as Dr. Hodge Felicity Huffman as Dr. DaSilva Steve Hytner as Dr. Danny Murphy Jeff Kober as Bear Ken Kirzinger as Richter Sonny Surowiec as Campbell My Thoughts: Look Emma!.... I made it tonight! Setting up this episode to review... I never realized till today that Felicity Huffman (Sports Night/Desperate Housewives) was in this episode. Somehow I didn't recognize her in the episode itself. It really is an excellent episode. Interesting story... like the whole no place to go escape to thing. I had to laugh when they decided they had to check their bodies for signs of infection... in front of each other. And Mulder came out with... "Before anyone passes any judgments... let me remind you... we are in the arctic." But as I said... this is an excellent episode... probably one of the best of the first season!
