Featuring sets of extraordinary scale and the first all-electronic musical soundscape in film history, Forbidden Planet is in a movie orbit all its own.

My Thoughts:
This is the first time that I saw this sci-fi classic. It is also the first time that I have seen a pre-"Airplane!" movie starring Leslie Nielsen. The only non-comedic role I knew him as was as a murderer on Columbo.
This movie holds up well. Story-wise and from a technical stand-point. The special effects probably were ground-breaking for its time.
It reminded me a little of the classic Star Trek series. Especially the original Star Trek pilot "The Cage". I wonder if the platforms they were standing on when going out of hyperspace was the inspiration of the transporter platforms in Star Trek. When they stood on those my first thought was, that they were going to beam and Star Trek didn't invent it after all.

My Thoughts:
Ok I admit it... curiosity got the best of me... I just had to finish this franchise. Going into this one I wasn't expecting too much as they been going downhill with each sequel and this one is a TV Movie. But I must admit... I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I actually enjoyed every minute of it. It was much better then the previous one. I would say I would put it right up there with part 2. The storyline grabbed me in the opening scene... and easily kept my attention through-out. Sure there was a bit of a slow part here and there... but it really wasn't enough to take away from the film all that much. I have read a number of bad reviews for this one... but I just don't see it. I thought... while sure it could have been better... it was definitely worth the time put in to watch it.

MOVIE / DVD INFO:

Title: Full Metal Panic? FUMOFFU
Year: 2003
Length: 300 Min.
Video: Full Frame 1.33:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1 , Japanese: Dolby Digital Stereo
Subtitles: English

Plot:
My Thoughts:

This is a hilarious spin-off series to "Full Metal Panic". FMP is based on a series of novels which tell the main story and a collection of comedic short stories. The first anime series "Full Metal Panic" is a mixture of the first few novels and some of the short stories. The series "Full Metal Panic? FUMOFFU" solely uses the fun short stories as its source. No mecha action in this series. But a lot of fun nonetheless! As a time-filler I just wanted to show my brother and a friend one or two episodes, but we ended up watching all 12 episodes in one go until 2 in the morning
Both of them never have seen an episode of either FMP or FUMOFFU. That tells me, that one can enjoy this spin-off without having seen the original FMP.
