Exorcist: Believer, a review by addicted2dvd

Theater Visit
Exorcist: Believer (2023)

Plot:
DO YOU BELIEVE?
Since the death of his wife 12 years ago, Victor Fielding has raised their daughter, Angela on his own. But when Angela and her friend Katherine disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.

My Thoughts:
I been wanting to see this since the first trailer I seen. I was so happy when my friend invited me to go see it with her! While I would say i still prefer the original film, this one comes close! i felt the story was great, cast did a fantastic job and the effects were amazing. I really loved every minute of it! And this is coming from someone who grew up watching the original film. I do think the beginning before the possession of the girls was a bit on the slow side, but once the possession took hold I was on the edge of my seat. And i must say I loved the very last scene of the film!

The Final Countdown, a review by Danae Cassandra

The Final Countdown
Year of Release: 1980
Directed By: Don Taylor
Starring: Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen, Katharine Ross, James Farentino, Ron O'Neal, Charles Durning
Genre: Science-Fiction, Adventure, War

Overview:My Thoughts:
This was a fun film.  I've always enjoyed the idea of time travel, and the questions it raises - if you change history, how do you know to do so?  The plot here is straightforward but decently executed, and the performances are all very solid.

The real star here is the USS Nimitz and her aircraft.  If you're looking for a film with lots of beautiful flying and airplane action, you can't go wrong here.  It's an entertaining film with an interesting premise, and I'd recommend it to just about anyone.

Bechdel Test: Fail

Overall: 3/5

My PILOT Marathon, a review by Rich

Cracker

The Mad Woman In The Attic
Fitz gets drunk at a dinner party. When his wife discovers that he has raised £5,000 on their mortgage to meet his gambling debts, she leaves him. Fitz, awakening hung over and alone the next morning, is shocked to hear that a former student of his has been brutally murdered. Grief-stricken, he offers his services as a psychologist to the police, who accept when the prime suspect claims to be suffering from amnesia. Murder suspect Thomas Francis Kelly is released into Fitz's care. Fitz comes to believe that Kelly is innocent, and tries to persuade DS Penhaligon to help him find the real killer.

Fitz (Robbie Coltrane) is a brilliant Criminal Psychologist with a dark side - a side dependent on a cocktail of alcohol and gambling. He lectures at the local university and profiles suspects for the Manchester Police Force.

Gritty quality British drama/crime series, at 1.40 an extremely long premier episode but as with all good viewing the time flew by. Over 15 years old but this does not show its age, a lot of this pilot deals with Fitz's many personal vices and family issues, and the fight he has with the police trying to convince them he is on the right track whilst they are chasing a red herring.
Not overly complicated in terms of suspense or intrigue, and at times too slow, but this is solid TV production and a great introduction to a too-short running programme.
