Plot:
Screen greats Robert Mitchum, Peter Falk and Arthur Kennedy star in the riveting war drama ANZIO, a vivid portrait of one of the bloodiest WWII battles ever fought. After landing with Allied troops at Anzio, Italy, in 1944, war correspondent Dick Ennis (Mitchum) and buddy Corporal Rabinoff (Falk) tell Anzio commander General Lesley (Kennedy) that the road to Rome is wide open. But instead of heading to Rome, Lesley attempts to build a coastal stronghold, only to discover that the Germans have outflanked them by enclosing the Anzio beachhead. Four months and over 30,000 casualties later, the Allied forces smash through the German lines and victoriously march to Rome. Directed by highly-acclaimed action director Edward Dmytryk ('The Caine Mutiny', 'Back To Bataan'), ANZIO is a powerful film and a symbol of heroic tenacity.

My Thoughts:

WWII movie about the costly blunder and the thousands of lives lost during the reclaiming of Italy by Allied forces.

This started off a bit slow and the song/score during the opening credits was extremely sappy and inappropriate for a war movie but overall I thought this was a decent film. Robert Mitchum was solid as a war correspondent covering the hostilities while lamenting and trying to make sense of the inhumanity of it all. I've always found Peter Falk kind of annoying but I rather liked him in this one, portraying a solider who craves the action because it beats his plain existence back home.

While this was a good historic depiction of events that took place in the end the message is the same as with most war movies... a condemnation of conflict that turns ordinary men into killers.

Killer Story, a review by Jimmy

Title : Killer Story (2004)

Overview
Monty and Fortunato, two old-time writers, get locked away in an abandoned saloon by a mysterious stranger and are prodded into out-duelling each other with their storytelling abilities by a sexy woman, who may in fact be a ghost.

My Impression
Correct me if I'm wrong but an anthology is usually composed of 3 stories plus a wraparound and this isn't the case here. Certainly not that big of a reproach since I've appreciated it, in fact that looks like something that could be a failed pilot for a serie like "The Ray Bradbury Theater" (wich is not the case at all). Personally I like more the first story who had a better script, acting and vibes. Not that the second isn't good, but it was too predictable since the short Poe's story that had inspired it is well known. The wraparound had a good end and it's always nice to see 2 good actors like William Smith and Joe Estevez in a film like that. Of course the film isn't really frightening since it is based on three Edgar Allan Poe's short stories and, to be honest, it was maybe scary in the 19th century but certainly not anymore.

I think you will appreciate this one Pete ;)

Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvd

Kindred: The Embraced
Enter the dangerous and sexy world of the undead when vampires clash with mortals and each other in a modern-day San Francisco. Five clans of vampires are known as the KINDRED, and in their terrifying embrace, one becomes forever young...forever beautiful...forever doomed.

From the savagery in the premiere to the chilling climactic finale, the KINDRED draws you into a mysterious realm of Mafia wars, forbidden liaisons and inhuman hunger in a spellbinding saga of erotic danger and unworldly suspense!

The Original Saga
An affair with a vampire leads detective Frank Kohanek to the world of the undead ruled by the Prince of Vampires, Julian Luna.

My Thoughts:
This was a very short-lived series. Only lasting 8 episodes. It is a series I bought blind when I found it on sale cheap years ago (bought it in 2004). After buying it I checked the net to see what I can learn about it. It appears they canceled this show because the main star was tragically killed in.. if I remember right... a motorcycle accident after producing the 8 episodes. And instead of trying to write in a replacement somehow... they decided to just cancel the series.

This episode is good... I enjoyed it. Though the series has a slower pace then I am normally used to. I do like how they played with the vampire legend. In this as long as they feed they can seem to be human... have a heartbeat, go out in the sun for short periods of time and such.
