Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, a review by DragonfireI recently decided to watch the Harry Potter movies again. I watched the Ultimate Edition versions of all but one of the movies - since that one isn't out yet. I've lost track of how many times I've seen this movie and I still love it. There is an extended version of the movie that has 7 extra minutes. The extra minutes are mostly just a few short bits here and there, but they work well. Some things have been changed from the book, but overall, it is a really good adaptation. The extras with this set are wonderful. There is all kinds of information tied to the making of the first movie. There are interviews with Danial, Emma, and Rupert from when the first movie was filming as well as some done during the filming of other movies too. That really shows how much they have changed since the first movie was made. Most of the one extra is tied to all the work going into making the first movie, but a few things tied to later movies is shared as well. The set has a little book that has lots of pictures. The extras from the original DVD release are also included in the set. The movie looks really good on Blu-ray, and I noticed a lot of little details that I hadn't before. I am pretty sure that I posted about this movie here before. I think I even shared the link to the review at Epinions. I'll share it again just in case I forgot. That review was posted after I saw the movie in the theater. It is one of my older reviews. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (From Marie's Random Movie Viewing on August 8th, 2011) Johnny English, a review by TomTitle: Johnny English Year: 2002 Director: Peter Howitt Rating: FSK-6 Length: 84 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85 Audio: German: Dolby Digital 5.1 , English: Dolby Digital 5.1 , German: DTS 5.1 Subtitles: English, German Stars: Rowan Atkinson John Malkovich Natalie Imbruglia Plot: Johnny English, a British secret agent who dreams of rising beyodn his menial job within the MI-7 organization, is hired to protect the Crown Jewels after all the other agents are bumped off. When the jewels are stolen, he eventually uncovers a plot to replace England's monarch with what the British fear the most: a French king. Extras: Deleted Scenes DVD-ROM Content Featurettes Interactive Game Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: Edward Blackadder meets James Bond. It is a decent James Bond parody. Not as over the top as similar parodies (like the Leslie Nielsen one). Rowan Atkinson does fit well in the role. Sadly the screenplay is rather average. This movie could have been much more.Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on November 2nd, 2008) Tom's Random Reviews, a review by TomMOVIE / DVD INFO: Title: RTL Samstag Nacht: Das Beste aus Staffel 1 Year: 1993 Rating: FSK-12 Length: 800 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: German: Dolby Digital Stereo Stars: My Thoughts: Just finished watching this set. "RTL Samstag Nacht" was the German incarnation of Saturday Night Live which was produced during the 90s. Like in its American counterpart, most sketches were more miss than hit, but the lasting effect this show had is still perceivable today. It made way for all the German comedy show that followed and a lot of the catchphrases from this show are still used today. It also made a lot of comedians household names. This set calls itself "Best of Season 1". But what it really is, is a season set which includes all 25 episodes from season 1 but which were cut from their musical guests and some comedy acts due to licencing reasons and some skits which are not shown in current reruns because of other problems (mainly with the church).
