Dark Ride, a review by addicted2dvd

Dark Ride: After Dark Horrorfest
Nearly a decade after two young girls are brutally murdered, the monstrous killer, Jonah, escapes from a mental institution and returns to his familiar killing ground, the theme park attraction "Dark Ride." His unfortunate victims this time are a group of college kids on a road trip that inevitably leads them to the Dark Ride where their night of youthful fun becomes a nightmare. The killer, who is mimicking the sets within the attraction, makes sure this is a "ride" audiences will never forget.

My Thoughts:
This one I enjoyed quite a bit... no... it wasn't the best horror movie I ever seen... but it is far from the worst too. of course after the initial action of the set-up scene things did slow down quite a bit until the group of college students made it to the Dark Ride. But once there... things picked up pretty quickly. This one had a twist ending... that looking back was pretty obvious... but I must be off my game tonight... as I didn't see it coming at all.

It is a decent DVD release... with a nice collection of extras.... but I didn't take the time to check any of them out this time around. Gotta save something for the next time I watch it... don't I?

Well... I think that brings my Weekend Movie Marathon to an end... Over-all it was a good marathon... I really enjoyed most of what I watched. Always a good thing!

My Thoughts:
I have a soft spot for this movie. When I first saw this movie, I knew Marisa Tomei only from her role as Maggie in the first season of "A Different World". I fell in love with her in this movie. She just is really adorable here. As far as I remember this was also the first time that I saw Robert Downey Jr. in anything. I didn't watch Ally McBeal.

Pilot Season 2014-15, a review by DJ Doena

The Leftovers

The Leftovers @ Wikipedia
The Leftovers @ IMDb

Synopsis: One day, one normal day as the normal day before it, 2% of the world's population just suddenly disappear without a trace.
Two years later. The world has changed. Some think of it as a biblical event, some have just learned to accept it and some have joined cults and groups.
No one knows what truly happened that day and if it will happen again.

My Opinion: I watched the pilot but not more.
The whole setting just couldn't get me interested.
Maybe I couldn't relate to it because it is centered around a small mid-western town and the reaction to that event is in all aspects very "bible belt American". At least it feels like it. And that's a world I usually don't tend to bother with.
