Video: Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: Mono, French: Dolby Digital: Mono, Spanish: Dolby Digital: Mono, Commentary: Dolby Digital: Mono Subtitles: English Stars: Gene Wilder Peter Boyle Marty Feldman Madeline Kahn Cloris Leachman Teri Garr Plot: Mel Brooks' monstrously crazy tribute to Mary Shelley's classic pokes hilarious fun at just about every Frankenstein movie ever made. Summoned by a will to his late grandfather's castle in Transylvania, young Dr. Frankenstein (GENE WILDER) soon discovers the scientist's step-by-step manual explaining how to bring a corpse to life. Assisted by the hunchbacked Igor (MARTY FELDMAN) and the curvaceous Inga (TERI GARR), he creates a monster (PETER BOYLE) who only wants to be loved. CLORIS LEACHMAN, MADELINE KAHN, KENNETH MARS and GENE HACKMAN co-star in this inspired vision of lunacy. Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Gallery Production Notes Interviews Outtakes/Bloopers Closed Captioned My Thoughts: Well, some parts of the movie was really funny. Others were, umm....disturbing? Idk, some humor in this is simply not my taste, though others, my dad included, would find it hilarious. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Doing the ABC's Movie Style!! on July 31st, 2010) Cowboys & Aliens, a review by DragonfireI went to see Cowboys & Aliens on Friday. I've been interested in seeing the movie for a while. Time is taken to set things up, though the plot really isn't as strong as it could have been and there isn't much character development. I like the idea of aliens turning up in the old west. There is more attention given to the action scenes. Those are done well, and some of them are pretty cool. The CGI is done well. I thought the aliens looked creepy. A few things shown are a bit gross. The characters are likable enough overall and somewhat interesting. They just could have been a bit more developed. Harrison Ford's character isn't exactly a bad guy, but he isn't that nice either. He will use extreme measures to get his way and he throws his weight around the small local town. Ford is great in the part, though it is a little weird to see him in a part like that. Daniel Craig does really well with the part of Jake, the guy who ends up in the middle of the mess without knowing who he is. The movie is just fun and entertaining overall even though the plot could be stronger. I would have rated the movie 3.5 if I had the option at Epinions. I rounded up to 4 since I didn't have that option. I did get a review - without spoilers - posted at Epinions. Cowboys & Aliens (From Cowboys & Aliens on August 1st, 2011) Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvdThe Bob Newhart Show In this hilarious sitcom from the '70s, Bob Newhart stars as Dr. Robert Hartley, a successful Chicago psychologist specializing in group therapy sessions. Bob's patience is often tested by his patients - including a paranoid grouch with a persecution complex, a hen-pecked husband, and an emotional eater - all trying to "find themselves." Even at home with his wife Emily, Bob is surrounded by an assortment of nutty and neurotic neighbors. But if laughter is the best therapy, you can be sure the good doctor and those who love him make a little progress every day! Fly the Unfriendly Skies Bob's delight at having Emily accompany his "Fear of Flying" workshop to New York City turns to distress when he learns she's absolutely terrified to fly. My Thoughts: I used to really enjoy this show years ago. But it unfortunately is not as good as I remember it being. Sure it is still somewhat fun. But it is not a show I could watch many episodes in one sitting like I do most series. The pilot episode is pretty good. Not a real introduction to the characters really... more like it just jumps right in. If you were to see this on TV as a rerun unless you really knew the show you wouldn't be able to instantly know it is the pilot... as it could have fit in anywhere in the series. The pilot episode has a guest appearance by Penny Marshal as the flight attendant. My Rating: (From Pete's Pilots on November 9th, 2009) |
