Spione, a review by GSyren

Spione (5-060000-400878)
Germany 1928 | Released 2005-04-18 on DVD from Eureka! Video
145 minutes | Aspect ratio 1.33:1 | Audio: Music Only Dolby Digital 2-Channel Stereo
Directed by Fritz Lang and starring Rudolf Klein-Rogge, Gerda Maurus, Lien Deyers, Louis Ralph, Craighall Sherry

My thoughts about Spione:
Yes. I wasn't really surprised, because I liked Dr. Mabuse - the Gambler as well, and that one is almost 4 hours. Fritz Lang really is a most remarkable director.

Spies actually feels very much like a Dr. Mabuse film, if Mabuse had turned into a master spy instead of a master criminal. There are several versions of this film. The one I watched was the restored version released by Eureka. The US Kino release is essentially the same, except it has English intertitles, whereas Eureka has German intertitles with optional English subtitles.

The story does have a few weak spots, but this movie is still well worth watching. Especially if you have any interest at all in film history.
I rate this title

Zack and Miri Make a Porno, a review by addicted2dvd

Zack and Miri Make a Porno: Blockbuster Exclusive (2008/United States)

Rating:Rated R : Strong Crude Sexual Content Including Dialogue, Graphic Nudity and Pervasive Language
Video:Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1

Subtitles:English, Spanish

Stars:
Elizabeth Banks as Miri
Seth Rogen as Zack
Craig Robinson as Delaney
Gerry Bednob as Mr. Surya

Nicholas Lombardi as Teen #1

Plot:
Get ready for the wild comedy that goes where no movie has dared go before! Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express) and Elizabeth Banks (Role Models) star as two cash-strapped roommates who try to get out of debt by making an adult film. Once the cameras start rolling, things quickly get complicated...and hilarious! Writer/Director Kevin Smith is at his funniest, backed by a motley cast, including Craig Robinson ("The Office"), Jason Mewes (Clerks films), Justin Long (Live Free or Die Hard), and Brandon Routh (Superman Returns). Critics promise, "If you liked The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Superbad, you'll love Zack and Miri" (Shawn Edwards, Fox-TV).

Extras:
  • Scene Access
  • Bonus Trailers
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Featurettes
  • Outtakes/Bloopers

My Thoughts:
This one was given to me in a big bx of DVDs a while back. Is a Blockbuster exclusive disc that seems to come with some deleted scenes you can only get on this disc. I don't know how many deleted scenes is in the normal release... but this one has up over 40 in one section alone. Plus there is several more in another section of the special features. I have to admit that I enjoyed the movie itself. More then I thought I would actually. Though I do think it may have went a little too far for my taste in one or two scenes. But not so bad where it stopped me from enjoying the movie.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Fear Itself Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Fear Itself: The Complete Series

10. Chance
In the vein of such classic doppelganger stories as "Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde" and Poe's "William Wilson," "Chance" explores the dreadful classic battle that ensues when a man is confronted by his evil self.
Director: John Dahl (You Kill Me, The Last Seduction)

Stars:
Ethan Embry
Vondie Curtis Hall
Christine Chatelain
Sean Hoy
Ellen Ewusie

My Thoughts:
This one... now this one wasn't all that great to me. I didn't find the story very interesting. It seemed to be drawn out as I found myself checking the clock on a few occasions throughout the episode. And I found I really didn't care about the characters.

My Rating:
