Dil Bole Hadippa!, a review by TomTitle: Dil Bole Hadippa! Year: 2009 Director: Anurag Singh Rating: FSK-0 Length: 141 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35 Audio: German: Dolby Digital 5.1, Hindi: Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: German Stars: Shahid Kapoor Rani Mukherjee Anupam Kher Dalip Tahil Rakhi Sawant Plot: Slender, barely 5'2'', assisting a dance troupe, Veera Kaur's dream is to represent the 9-time losing Indian Tigers cricket team. The team, led by Choudhary Vikramjeet Singh, have never won the Aman Cup against their rivals, Pakistan Champs, led by Pathan Liqayat Ali Khan. She dons the guise of a turbaned Sikh, complete with beard and mustache, and calls herself Veer Pratap Singh. In this way she manage to convince the new, rather arrogant and brash Team Captain, Rohan Singh, a British County Cricket all-rounder, and the son of Vikramjeet, to include her in this team. Things all appear to be going well until accusations are leveled against her for attempting to sexually molest Rohan's leggy girlfriend - none other than Miss Chandigarh 2008, Soniya Saluja - which may well blow her cover, and prevent her from ever playing for any Indian Cricket team Awards: Deleted Scenes Featurettes Poster Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: The story isn't anything new. A woman wants to play a male-dominated sport, so she disguises herself as a man to be able to play.I didn't expect much but if it's a movie with Rani Mukherji in it, I am sure to check it out. Even though I like Rani, and she has proven herself to be a great actress (see "Black"), I had doubts that she could pull of this role believably. But I really enjoyed her portrayal of the male Veer. They made the choice to play it for fun, and it works. And again I enjoyed a movie set in Punjab, like previously "Veer-Zaara". Though it means even more dance numbers than an average Bollywood movie, I enjoy those more than most of the "modern" dance numbers of movies set in Mumbai. Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on May 26th, 2010) Inside Llewyn Davis, a review by AntaresInside Llewyn Davis (2013) 76/100 - If this film did one thing for me, it was to make me really miss hearing someone just play a guitar and sing. In the beginning of the film, the Coens capture a time that has long since disappeared. Unfortunately, as the story, if you could call it that, moves along, it kind of loses that tonal quality that made me think that this was going to become my favorite Coen brothers film. Maybe they should have cut the John Goodman subplot and focused on his partner's fate at the beginning, and then segued into Davis' slow descent into obscurity. At least the storyline would have had a modicum of structure to it. Maybe I'll like it better after a second viewing, which has become commonplace for me with other Coen brothers films. Teal = Masterpiece Dark Green = Classic or someday will be Lime Green = A good, entertaining film Orange = Average Red = Cinemuck Brown = The color of crap, which this film is (From Antares' Short Summations on June 11th, 2014) Smallville: The Complete Seventh Season, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Tom Welling as Clark Kent Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan Erica Durance as Lois Lane Aaron Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen Laura Vandervoort as Kara John Glover as Lionel Luthor Extras:
My Thoughts: While I still enjoyed this season very much over-all... it has my least favorite storyline of the entire series. That being the Veritas storyline. The episodes dealing with Veritas just didn't hold my interest as much as any of the other episodes. This season does introduce Kara/Supergirl. As for guest stars I am familiar with for this season. There was Dean Cain who played Clark Kent/Superman himself in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. James Marsters returns in several episodes as Brainiac. This season we also see the long gone Sam Jones III (Pete Ross) back for a single episode. Gina Holden (Blood Ties) shows up for a single episode as well. The seventh season aired in 2007. Which is the year of the writer's strike. But we seemed to get lucky for this series... and didn't lose out on too many episodes this time. As this season still has 20 episodes. So I am thankful for that. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Addicted2dvd's Random TV Series Watched on August 30th, 2011) |
