Seven Samurai, a review by RichExpectations in Japan... Title: Seven Samurai Runtime:206 Certificate:NR Year:1954 Genres:Action, Drama Plot:A desperate village hires seven samurai to protect it from marauders in this crown jewel of Japanese cinema. No other film so seamlessly weaves philosophy and entertainment, delicate human emotions and relentless action. Featuring Japan's legendary star, the great Toshiro Mifune, Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai is an inspired epic, a triumph of art, and an unforgettable three-hour ride. My Review: Ok, this was my second viewing of the film, I was all set-up for the marathon knowing the immense length of the production, and with expectations I would enjoy this more than when I watched it some years ago at a friends. Nope - I still only see this as an average film. I don't get all the hype? Just appears now like film buff BS. Unrealistic acting, false wigs so clear to see on a bigger screen, did I miss a really good swordplay fight scene whilst comatose, all they seemed to do is shout at each other the whole film?? Unless you have a beard, wear cordrouys and jackets with patches on the elbows, and wish to pretend you are cultured, I would miss this one. My Rating (From Around the World in 80 DVD's on March 7th, 2008) Disappearance of Flight 412, a review by addicted2dvd

My Thoughts: I had some hope for a decent movie when I pulled this one out... as it had a couple decent actors in it. But unfortunately they really had nothing to work with here. It is a story line that had potential.. but they just ruin what interesting story line they had with unwanted and unneeded narration. Most the time basically telling us what we already know by watching the picture on the screen. The writing was off for this film... it felt like we were watching a '50s Sci-Fi film made in the mid '70s! This film is only about 70 minutes... and I had a hard time making it through it. First I was fighting off falling asleep. Then I found myself more interested in looking at facebook on my phone then I was the TV screen. Don't bother with this one! Rating: (From Within My Lifetime: 2016 Edition on September 28th, 2016) "Big Bang Theory" Marathon, a review by Rick7. The Dumpling Paradox Synopsis: Wolowitz gets a girl. Penny beats Sheldon at Halo. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. My Thoughts:Penny walks into the apartment8. The Grasshopper Experiment Synopsis: Rajesh flips over his gorgeous blind date. But she only has eyes for Sheldon. Sheldon?! My Thoughts: My least favorite episode so far. The most enjoyable parts were those involving Sheldon and Penny regarding his virgin Cuba Libres. Favorite line: [Howard imitating Raj and making the date for him] 9. The Cooper-Hofstadter Polarization Synopsis: Leonard and Sheldon go from physics to fisticutts when tempers flare at the symposium. My Thoughts:10. The Loobenfeld Decay Synopsis: Sheldon cannot tell a lie. He has to tell at least seven. And they are all "un-unravelable!" My Thoughts: One word to describe this whole episode Un-unravelable 11. The Pancake Batter Anomaly Synopsis: Everyone knows to head to the hills when Sheldon gets sick. Everyone except Penny, that is. My Thoughts:11. The Jerusalem Duality [b[Synopsis:[/b] When a child prodigy arrives on campus, Sheldon graciously sets out to destroy him. My Thoughts: (From "Big Bang Theory" Marathon on October 5th, 2008) |
