Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, a review by Rich

that's livin alright in Laos...

Being a big fan of Auf Wied this was always going to appeal. Nothing ground breaking or different from the series, this special was a final hurrah for the travelling brickies from the UK, and their ages dictated that as they were pushing it for this feature. A solid 6/10, but only for existing fans.

Beyond Borders, a review by Rich

Beyond Borders

Despite a very good performance from Jolie and Owen, and a story about aid workers and refugees which surely must be told, there was something missing, perhaps it just didn't gel too well together? Or perhaps it was the voyeuristic feel the viewer has, watching what must be genuine starving Africans in the name of entertainment?
I felt rather guilty after watching this, wondering how much of the box office returns or the Hollywood stars income was ploughed back into countries like Ethiopia or Somalia? And the faked settings in some instances were just too obvious, spoiling the feel of the movie. At times it even felt like this was a political statement and it was being forced down your throat as opposed to us being able to determine an opinion.
Worthy subject, poorly delivered.

The X-Files Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

The X-Files: Season 1

4. Conduit
Original Air Date: October 1, 1993
When a young Iowa girl mysteriously vanishes without a trace, Mulder must confront his own feelings about his sister Samantha's dissapearance.

Guest Stars:
Carrie Snodgress as Darlene Morris
Michael Cavanaugh as Sheriff
Don Gibb as Kip
Joel Palmer as Kevin Morris
Charles Cioffi as Chief Blevins

My Thoughts:
After an excellent episode we are back to the whole UFO thing.  Though it is a good story... I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as Squeeze. Though I must admit... I did like how they did the effects in this movie. I liked how they did the biker/bartender's mutilated ear.

My Rating:
