The Night Flier, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: The Night Flier Year: 1997 Director: Mark Pavia Rating: R Length: 96 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: English, French, Spanish Stars: Miguel Ferrer as Richard Dees Julie Entwisle as Katherine Blair Dan Monahan as Merton Morrison Michael H. Moss as Dwight Renfield John Bennes as Ezra Hannon Plot:Extras: Scene Access Trailers Production Notes My Thoughts: Stephen King's take on a vampire story. Being a vampire movie alone gives it a good chance I will enjoy it... and I definitely did. But it is definitely not the best vampire movie I ever seen. Like It did seem a bit weird... the idea of a vampire flying around in an airplane everywhere he goes. There was a couple things did I liked about this movie though... they way they made Dwight Renfield (the vampire) look... as well as the effect the vampire's blood had when he effected the Richard Dees with it. I really liked the use of Black and White in that scene. It really enhanced the spookiness of the scene. There is a couple small extras on this release... I would have liked to seen something more substantial though. This movie did have some decent bloody effects a well. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Vampires on February 5th, 2010) Burn After Reading, a review by RichBurn After Reading An all-star cast, including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and John Malkovich, come together in this outrageous spy comedy about murder, blackmail, sex addiction and physical fitness! When a disc filled with some of the CIA's most irrelevant secrets gets in the hands of two determined, but dim-witted, gym employees, the duo are intent on exploiting their find. But since blackmail is a trade better left for the experts, events soon spiral out of everyone's and anyone's control, resulting in a non-stop series of hilarious encounters! From Joel and Ethan Coen, the Academy Award winning directors of No Country For Old Men and The Big Lebowski, comes this brilliantly clever and endlessly entertaining movie that critics are calling smart, funny, and original. Quirky film, like Fargo you are engrossed all the way through and chuckling constantly, caught by surprises often, and look at each other afterwards and say 'WTF was that!' Such a massive web of deceit, betrayal, infidelity and lies, it is hard to see for an hour how this will all fall together. It suffers from a very stodgy start, but after half an hour you daren't look away. The best comparison I can give is that BAF is a mix between Fargo violence and Big Lebowski humour. All of the actors shine, but Frances McDormand steals it for me as an exceptional performance. This is a smart comedy, and potentially a cult film in the future. Very enjoyable (From Riches Random Reviews on January 29th, 2009) The One Where It All Began: The Pilot Marathon, a review by DJ DoenaBuffy the Vampire Slayer What's the show about? Buffy Summers is The Chosen One, a teenage girl that was chosen by destiny to fight vampires, demons and other underworld beings. But she has help in form of her friends, her watcher and even vampires. What happened before? She lived in Los Angeles before. There she learnt of her status as The Chosen One and there she began to slay vampires until she had to burn down the school gym. "Welcome to the Hellmouth" / "The Harvest" Buffy and her mother have just moved to Sunnydale, California, after the events depicted in the movie. She wants to leave her Slayer days behind her but for that is Sunnydale the completely wrong place. Why? Because Sunnydale lies directly over a Hellmouth, an opening to the hell dimension and The Master has just been awakened... My Opinion Didn't like the show. Was very boring with that vampire-killing and so on. Yeah right! That's why I watched all 7 season within a month - and bought "Angel" afterwards.
