Guardians of the Galaxy, a review by addicted2dvd

Guardians of the Galaxy
In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan.

Stars:
Chris Pratt as Peter Quill
Zoe Saldana as Gamora
Dave Bautista as Drax
Vin Diesel as Groot (voice)
Bradley Cooper as Rocket (voice)

My Thoughts:
This film is actually not scheduled to be released until today. But I guess some areas got to release it early as we were able to get tickets to see this one a little early. I went along with Danae Cassandra, her mother and a bunch of their work friends last night. Now let me start out by saying I never even heard of this until the trailer came out... so there is no way for me to compare this to the comics.... but as a viewer with no prior knowledge what so ever... I have to say I loved every minute of it! And I so can't wait to add the Blu-ray to my collection when released! When I first saw the trailer... I thought wow! that looks stupid! But boy, was I wrong!

This is not a film if you are looking for some deep philosophical story-telling. This really is no more then a hilarious (yes I found it extremely funny!), fun, action packed sci-fi. It is a leave your brain at the door good time.... like all comic book films should be, IMHO.  Rocket, the smart-ass intelligent weapon wielding raccoon stole the show! I absolutely loved that little guy! He was definitely my favorite character. Other then him I liked Groot... the living plant creature that hung around with Rocket.

If you get the chance you really should see this one on the big screen. What with me being blind in one eye... I couldn't see the 3D film (Thankfully the gang was going to see the 2D version anyway!)... so can't comment on if it worth seeing in 3D either. But I definitely feel this one is worth the time put in to watch it. Even with it being up over 2hrs! Though, you wouldn't know it when watching it. The pace is so good in this film that the time just seemed to fly by!

My Thoughts:
A nice romantic comedy. A guy who isn't the best looking guy learns, that his blind girlfriend will get her eyesight back. Ashamed by his appearance, and because he described himself as handsome to her, he is hiding from her now. Added to that an old handsome school friend of his has entered the girlfriends life.
South Korea seems to be a nice source to get some charming romantic comedies. I have watched and enjoyed a few so far. I even ordered a few more recently.

Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom

Love Hina: The Complete Series (2000/Japan)

FUNimation Entertainment (United States)
Length:625 min.
Video:Full Frame 1.33:1
Audio:English: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo, Japanese: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
Subtitles:English

Plot:
College isn't the only thing he can't get into!

How's a guy supposed to keep his nose in the books with so many sexy girls in his face? Keitaro moved to his grandma's apartment building to cram for a college entrance exam. Too bad nobody told him the complex is for ladies only and that he's the new manager!

The job has some perks: girls frolicking in the hot springs all day and lounging in their naughtiest nighties all night. It's definitely gonna be tough for Keitaro to focus on studying - especially if one of his titillating tenants turns out to be his long lost love! From the man who quickened your pulse with Negima! and My Santa, it's Ken Akamatsu's classic - Love Hina!

1.01 All-Girls Dorm with Outdoor Bath: Hot Spring (2000-04-19)

I know someone who absolutely loves this series and the manga it was based on. It's the prototypical harem comedy.
I never really got into it. It has some fun moments, but I always preferred "Ai Yori Aoshi" to this.
