I know I am putting this post up a few days early... but I figured I may as well get it up and ready.

With Halloween being my all-time favorite holiday... I like to celebrate it all month long. So every year at this time I have a month long horror / Halloween marathon. Every year I try to beat my record of most horror movies,  horror or Halloween episode TV Series and now Other (Shorts/Documentaries). The best I ever done was last year when I watched 103 Movies, 55 TV Show Episodes & 5 Other. Will I be able to beat my best record... I am almost positive I won't. I already know that I will not have the time to put to it this year like I did last. But that is ok... as I plan to give it my all whether it is a win, loose or a draw! And no matter what happens I am going to have a great time!

My Thoughts:
This is one I never seen before. But with my love for all things vampires...I been wanting to check this one out since the first time I saw the trailer. It turned out to be a bit different then I was expecting. Not really a bad different.. but not really as good as I was expecting either. The movie plays with the vampire legend a bit... but that seems to be true about most vampire movies. I think the vampire legend gets changed to the story-teller's needs more so then any other. I did like the idea of the 2 different clans of vampires going to war. I also enjoyed all the different freaks that was in the movie. While I realize they didn't have time to really get into it... I would have liked to see some more on them. Maybe a bit of background info on at least some of them.

From what I understand this is from a series of books. So while it did complete the storyline in this movie... it also left itself wide open for sequels. Which I hope will see eventually come out... because over-all while I was expecting a bit better... I still enjoyed the movie.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
This one I bought mostly because it stars Charisma Carpenter... who I have liked since she was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I never even heard of this movie before I did an amazon search on her name this past month. I found this one to be rather strange... and a bit hard to follow at times. But over all I found it entertaining enough to keep my attention. Pretty good... but definitely could have been better.

"Paranormal Activity 2 is as groundbreaking as the original". Security cameras capture the torment, making every minute horrifyingly real. Critics warn to "say goodbye to sleep" as Paranormal Activity 2 will haunt you long after its shocking final scene.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
I know there is a lot of people that don't like this sub-genre of horror... something that seems to be called "Found Footage." Movies such as The Blair Witch Project which uses a shaky camera since it is supposed to be found video footage of the events as they happen. But this is something I have gotten to like quite a bit. I don't know what it is about this type of movie... but I have gotten to the point where I started to seek them out. I really enjoyed Paranormal Activity when I watched it last year... so I was looking forward to watching this one when I was finally able to add it to my collection for this year.

I really enjoyed this one. Not quite as much as I did the first one... but pretty close. I liked the storyline behind this one... about the baby. Sure the movie starts off slow... but it gradually gets better.... giving it a right good ending. Basically I would say if you enjoyed the first one... you should like this one as well.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
Felt like working a little on a TV series next. It has been a while since I last watched any of this series so thought this might be a good time to do so. I always saw this series as good enough to collect—I just completed my collection last month—but not really a favorite. While they are entertaining... I usually find the episodes to be a bit on the corny side. Though there is some episodes on this disc I really enjoyed. I especially enjoyed THE TROUBLE WITH MARY JANE, MONSTERS IN MY ROOM and A NEW LEASE ON LIFE. The actor that played the boy in MONSTERS IN MY ROOM was a rather young Seth Green who was of course Oz in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
This is another movie I never seen before... but I have heard some good things about it from friends. I did enjoy it... though it does get a little weird at times. The movie claims to be based on true events. But you know how that type of thing goes in horror movies. They can take the smallest of true facts and create a completely fictional story around it. For those that don't like it... this movie has a fairly large amount of blood in it. But if that don't bother you... I would say this one is worth checking out.

My Thoughts:
Another first time viewing here. I have always loved the original Lost Boys (Rated 4.5/5). I am also one of the few that enjoyed Lost Boys: The Tribe (Rated 3/5). I had heard that this one was better then part 2... but not as good as part one. And I have to agree with that line of thought. This one is definitely better then part 2... but falls a little short compared to the original movie. I liked the storyline. And I also liked that there was some flashbacks to scenes from the first movie.

Unfortunately there isn't much here when it comes to extra features. Just some unrelated trailers and a 12 minute featurette. I had to watch the featurette mainly because Charisma Carpenter (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) hosted it. Unfortunately it is a very basic featurette on vampires. Covers the same old thing I have seen time after time before on other vampire myth documentaries... with some video from the movie thrown in. The best part about this featurette was Charisma Carpenter's hosting.

Not knowing the threat that awaits them, tow separate expeditions make their way into the heart of the forest and closer to the volcano. Faced with the threat of the flesh-eating predators, both groups come to the realization that they must rely on one another if they plan on making out of the forest alive! With non-stop action and explosive graphics, PTERODACTYL will make your fear take flight!

Extras:

My Thoughts:
This is one I haven't watched since I bought it for last year's marathon. When I first saw the trailer for this one it looked cheesy and low budget... yes... but for some reason it also looked like fun to me. Apparently this one originally was shown on the premium channel Showtime. The pterodactyls themselves looked pretty cool. The gore was definitely present in this one as people wore torn apart. Some of the effects here was decent... but other effects were bad... laughable even. Where this one really failed for me was the writing. The dialog desperately needed a re-write... though the basic story was just fine. I did find that the action and effects brought the picture up enough for me to enjoy the movie. So I am surprisingly glad I have this one in my collection... and can definitely see myself watching it again.

Stars:

Plot:
Monstrous canine evil stalks a helpless, isolated family in this shock-packed horror-thriller from suspense master Stephen King's best-selling novel! Starring Dee Wallace (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Howling, 10), Daniel Hugh-Kelly (Nowhere to Hide) and Ed Lauter (King Kong, Girls Just Want to Have Fun), CUJO unleashes the ultimate in nightmarish, unrelenting terror.

In rural Maine, Vic and Donna Trenton (Hugh-Kelly and Wallace) struggle to repair their crumbling marriage, while their young son Tad (Danny Pintauro) befriends a hulking, lovable, 200-pound St. Bernard named Cujo. With Vic away on business, Donna and Tad take their decrepit car to be fixed at the remote farm of their mechanic (Lauter). As their aging Pinto sputters to a stop and dies, Cujo appears. But the once docile dog has undergone a hideous transformation – and becomes a slavering, demonic, implacable killer possessed by almost supernatural strength...and unholy cunning. Critically acclaimed, CUJO is a fearsome, spine-chilling tour de force from the most popular name in horror!

Extras:

My Thoughts:
Earlier this morning I was watching an episode of Friends where Rachel and Joey was watching Cujo. That made me realize I haven't watched that movie in quite a while. When I checked DVD Profiler I see I haven't since April of 2005. So how could I resist? While I can't tell you how it compares to the book... I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. Unfortunately the version I have is full framed and no extras what so ever. This is one movie I would love to upgrade to the special edition. The young boy in this movie is played by Danny Pintauro who some of you may know from the TV Series Who's the Boss. This is a movie I would feel comfortable recommending to other horror fans.

Plot:
Lock the door, close the blinds, draw up your comforter and get set for more thrills, spills and chills with the third installment of Creepshow. Five new ghoulishly clever takes on the classic '50s horror comics, each an exercise in pure terror. Hair-raising tales about alternative realities, demonic possession and blood-sucking vampires. Nail-biting yarns about serial killers, mad scientists and hauntings from beyond the grave. It's all here in Creepshow 3, your ticket to more merrily macabre fun.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
I have always liked the first two Creepshow movies... but I have always heard this third installment really sucked big-time. So I kept putting a purchase off. Then I saw it at Amazon Marketplace for only a dollar... and I figured that is cheap enough to take a chance and form my own opinion on it. Unfortunately I pretty much agree. I wouldn't say it sucks big-time but it is nowhere near that caliber of the first two movies. This one has all the storylines intertwined with-in each other. Which is ok... but I prefer how the first two movies did it. Keeping them completely separated. This isn't one I would recommend buying. Really nothing here that is worth the money.

My Thoughts:
This is an old HBO series that I haven't seen since they originally aired back when I was a young teen of about 13 or 14. So naturally I was concerned about whether the show would hold up to the test of time or not. Thankfully it held up rather well for me. I enjoyed watching these episodes quite a bit. My favorite episode on this disc would have to be Nightshift. That one kept my attention a bit better then the others.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
Going into this one I heard nothing buy bad things about it. But I enjoyed the first one so much that I wanted to still give it a chance and see for myself. The first thing I noticed is that they replaced Melissa George in the main role. Which I thought really sucked. But they did get Mia Kirshner (The L Word) for a small part... who is no stranger to the vampire lore as she was in at least the first season of the CW series The Vampire Diaries. And even further back in her career in 1990 she played one of the teens that went up against Dracula in Dracula: The Series.

Over-all I would say it is an ok movie. Definitely don't live up to part one. It really is nothing more then an average vampire flick. With vampires being my favorite sub-genre I was able to enjoy it on some level for just that fact. While I can see myself watching it again... it isn't something I see myself watching often. Unlike the first one. I would say it is worth catching on cable if you can. If not... and you really want to see it.. be sure you get it cheap.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie I recorded of cable last year about this time which I decided to keep. It is a family horror that originally aired on Nickelodeon. For about the first half hour it is a but on the slow side. Then once the girl was infected it picked up. And it continued to pick up through the rest of the movie. It got to the point that I was really enjoying it. It surprised me just how much I did get into it. If there was anything that really bothered me it was the character that Brooke Shields played. She was just plain annoying. And I could have done without the whole karaoke thing at the end credits. But over-all a fun little family horror. Great start for the young kids wanting to watch some horror this month.

Abbott and Costello, as railroad baggage clerks, receive a strange shipment—the last remains of Dracula and Frankenstein's monster. But this deadly duo is still very much alive. So when the shipment arrives at the House of Horrors, the Monsters are not in their crates but have disappeared to a secret hideaway island. Blamed for the disappearance, Abbott and Costello follow their trail to the island where not only do they meet up with Dracula (Bela Lugosi) and the Monster (Glenn Strange), but a Mad Scientist (Charles Bradstreet) who wants to switch Costello's brain with that of the Monster. With everyone chasing each other, the Wolf Man (Lon Chaney, Jr.) shows up to scare them all. In the end everything works out: Costello finds romance and the Monsters find their final resting places…or do they?

My Thoughts:
This is the first time I watched this movie in a couple years. Last time I watched it I had to borrow my brother's copy. But I finally just got my own copy and couldn't wait to watch it again. This movie is a lot of fun. I enjoyed every minute of it. This movie of course has a few of the great classic horror actors... playing roles they are famous for. There is even a brief special "appearance" of Vincent Price as The Invisible Man at the end... which I liked a lot. A great comedy-horror that I feel safe recommending to anyone.

"Better than Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later" (beyondhollywood.com), The Zombie Diaries has been hailed as "the most realistic zombie film ever made" (twitchfilm.net). Set in England during a world-wide viral infection, this documentary-style frightfest records the rise of the undead from the videocams of several survivor groups. As each struggles against the flesh-eating hordes, an even more horrifying fate lurks among them. "Dark, uncompromising and frighteningly real" (eatmybrains.com), The Zombie Diaries is smart horror at its bloody best.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
This is the first time I ever seen this movie. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It is one of those "Found Footage" sub-genre movies. I know that these zombie movies has to start out a little slow with the zombie action. But I do wish this one had a little more towards the beginning of the movie. Other then that... not bad at all. It was a bit weird how they did it... moving from group to group.. and how much time past from the one to the other. But not so bad where it takes away from the movie. I think it is definitely worth checking out.

My Thoughts:
This is the first chance I got to check out this series. I went into this one expecting a teen drama... figuring it would be similar to the twilight movies and such. Which I was basically right.... but at least thankfully the vampires don't sparkle in the sunlight. I know I am only 5 episodes in... but so far while it isn't really a bad series I also ain't very impressed yet either. It is a little too much teen drama for my taste. Though the storyline is bringing me in a bit now. I do like the storyline of brother against brother. And I also like the idea of the rings keeping them safe in the sunlight. A much better solution then on Twilight in my opinion. I also like the addition of the witch storyline. At this point I would say I am interested in continuing the series... but really not sure just how much I will get into this one.

My Thoughts:
When I found this DVD for sale (got it for only $1.59) I thought I remembered seeing this movie years ago on cable and enjoying it. But then I looked up reviews for it online and read many very bad reviews for it. So I figured it wasn't the movie I remembered it to be. But I figured for the price I would go ahead and give it a go anyway... despite the bad reviews. After watching it I find that it is indeed the movie I was originally thinking. And I did still enjoy it. Not quite as much as I remembered... but enough that I am glad I now have it in my collection. I really enjoy the main storyline of the vampires now outnumbering the humans... basically taking over the world. On the bad side it is a l a pretty low budget film. So there is no recognizable names... and the whole thing is a bit on the amateurish side. The acting is questionable at times. And some of the dialog could use a little help at times as well. But over-all I found it to be a good...entertaining vampire movie.

Now... do I recommend this movie to others. I really don't know what to say on that. There is many movies that I enjoy every minute of... but I seem to be the only one who does. So the question remains... is this movie actually worth the time to put into it... and there is a lot of unfair reviews for it. Or is this one of the several that is just a bad movie that fits in with my tastes and I am one of the few that finds it to be good? So I guess I would say take this review with a grain of salt. If you get the chance to watch it free (or very cheap) consider giving it a chance. But don't go into it expecting much.

My Thoughts:
This movie is one that is part of a horror collection. 4 movies on 1 disc that I recently got for this marathon. Unfortunately this movie didn't impress me at all. Hopefully I will like at least one of the other three movies on this disc to make it worth the purchase. At least this DVD only cost me 99¢ for the entire four movies. So I can't complain too much either way I guess. But I just found the movie to be boring. The story failed to keep me the least bit interested. And I am not sure if they were trying to make a low budget werewolf movie or a low budget martial arts movie. As one of the young guys in this movie was a martial arts expert... living in a small town... and seems like him and his sister was the only Asian people in the town. Sister looked maybe half Asian and they lived with a god parent... not saying what happened to their parents. They really didn't show too clear of a shot of the werewolf (a couple decent shots towards end of movie). The effects weren't too bad for a low budget horror. But either way... Not recommended.. Don't waste your time with this one.

My Thoughts:
This movie is another one that was on with that terrible Night Shadow. I went into it expecting the worst after that last movie. But only 10 minutes in I had already felt this movie was 3 times better than that last one. This one also has the added bonus that there is a couple familiar faces in it. First there is Charlie O'Connell (Jerry O'Connell's brother) who was in the fourth season of Sliders with his brother. Then there is Victoria Pratt who was one of the stars of the low budget Sci-Fi series Cleopatra 2525. I have to say... this is the first time I ever seen an opening title card done like it is in this movie... The Title Card says...

Deadly Water
A.K.A.: Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep

It is the first time I ever seen a title and an alternate title on the same title card in the opening of a movie. While the movie could have been better... I enjoyed this one. It definitely made the purchase of the DVD worth it. Thankfully... after that first movies I did have my concerns. Kraken is a Giant Squid... and he is shown clearly in many shots through-out the movie. There is some decent killings and a story that was able to keep my attention through-out. I would say it is worth checking out. But it isn't something I would put much money to seeing. If you can find it cheap cool. If you can catch it on cable for free... even better.

As far as I remember the series got better after the first few episodes. Less like a teen drama and much less like Twilight (though I cannot really say, because I never saw Twilight).

The newest film from horror master George A. Romero (legendary creator of the Night of the Living Dead franchise) picks up where Diary of the Dead leaves off. On a small island off the coast of Delaware, live two families locked in a struggle for power and control over the fate of the undead. The O'Flynn's approach the zombie plague with a shoot-to-kill attitude. The Muldoons feel that the zombies should be quarantined and kept "alive", in hopes that a solution will be discovered. For both families, existence on Plum Island is a nightmarish world where humans are the minority and zombies rule.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
This is another movie I heard nothing but bad things about. So I went into it with very low expectations. After watching it I found I enjoyed it. It is definitely the worst of the George A. Romero zombie movies... but I feel it is still a good zombie movie. When I review a movie I try not to compare it to any other movie. Just review it as a stand alone movie. Though I admit that is easier said then done sometimes. There is definitely some things here I liked and some things I didn't. But when it comes down to it... I liked more about it then I disliked. So Over-all I am glad I added it to my collection. And even happier that I was able to do so for only 99¢.

My Thoughts:
I was searching the net for best Halloween TV Episodes... and this episode came up on several lists.... even though Halloween isn't mentioned at all in the episode. But it did originally air Oct. 27th of '72... and the subject matter fits. So I decided to go ahead and watch it. It is a fun episode. I enjoyed watching they play all the jokes trying to scare each other. Even though this was never a favorite show of mine growing up... this was always one of my favorite episodes.

My Thoughts:
I have all the episodes of this syndicated Superboy series on old recordings... which I am now in the process of converting to DVD. Unfortunately that means bad quality... but at least I can watch them again until such time they decide to release the rest of the series. This second season episode...while not mentioning Halloween... originally aired October 28th of '89... and the subject matter certainly fits. I enjoyed watching this episode again after so many years. It mixes two of my favorite genres as it has both superhero and vampires. There is also a few more episodes from this series that will fit in this marathon. I just haven't gotten them converted to DVD yet so I can watch them again.

you know what I like about Romero? He's still trying and he's still thinking. The genre has been lost to albeit brilliant parodies, but he's still pushing ideas to advance his theories. I do think he's lost his touch for pure brutality, but I'll always have time for his films.

Seemed a little weird as the cast looked so young. My favorite episodes on this disc has to be the 2-part pilot. Least favorite being Teacher's Pet. But all was good. Joe Dante's cult classic PIRANHA is back in a new collector's edition with new special features!

Piranha is director Joe Dante's second film. He would go on to direct Gremlins and Small Soldiers. PProducer Jon Davison went on to produce the blockbusters Robocop and Starship Troopers. The film also features a thrilling soundtrack by Pino Donaggio (Dressed To Kill, Carrie and Dante's The Howling).

My Thoughts:
I have watched a lot of horrors from the late '70s and the '80s.... but somehow I have never seen this one until today. Which is a surprise to me... but at least I got to enjoy it today. And I really did enjoy this one. Probably one of the best ones I watched so far during this marathon. The movie has plenty of blood... as well as plenty shots of people trying to escape... showing lots of shots of eaten away flesh on their bodies. Watching this movie you can't help but to think of the movie Jaws which was released 3 years earlier. So I thought it was cool that the very first time we see Heather Menzies' character she is playing an old Jaws video game. Barbara Steele's role in the movie was rather short. So that seemed to be a bit of a waste. But other then that... I loved every minute of this one! After watching this one... I feel like I could start it right back up and watch it again... that says a lot to me. So I think I can Highly Recommend this one!

My Thoughts:
This DVD has a collection of 7 Halloween episodes of Roseanne. The Halloween episodes has always been my favorite episodes of this series. So much so that I wouldn't even beginning to know how to pick a favorite episode on this disc. I can however say that the final episode on this disc is my least favorite. I personally think they really dropped the ball on that episode. Despite that last episode I really enjoyed re-watching this disc.

Sure there is some episodes better then others... but I really enjoyed re-watching this entire series. Watching this set today made it so I can't wait for the season 2 premier. For a show that airs on basic cable... this series does not shy away from the blood, guts & violence... to the point of surprising me a bit on how far they went. Not a complaint mind you... but a pleasant surprise. If you haven't had the opportunity to see this Zombie Series... it is one that I highly recommend!

My Thoughts:
This is a movie my brother rented from Netflix... and sounded like something I would enjoy so decided to check out. It seems this one is a TV Movie that originally aired on Lifetime. But going into this one that didn't worry me one bit since one of my favorite TV Movies originally aired on Lifetime as well (Still Small Voices).

I enjoyed this one. Even if it was pretty predictable. I had the whole who the ghost was figured out early in the movie. The storyline itself is entertaining... and there is some decent effects in it, especially considering that this is a TV movie. Thought the DVD itself leaves quite a bit to be desired. No extras what so ever on this one. Only options the main menu has here is Play Movie or Scene Selection.  But over all... I liked it. I can see myself picking up a copy if I could get it cheap. I think it would be a good addition to my TV Movie collection.

Plot:
From Director Robert Kurtzman (Wishmaster, Buried Alive), comes the highly anticipated new splatter classic. When victims injected with the rage virus escape the experimentation of a mad scientist—his secrets are uncovered and all hell breaks loose. The Rage is guaranteed to be an out-RAGE-ously gory good time!

Extras:

My Thoughts:
After talking about Erin Brown (Misty Mundae) earlier today I thought I would go ahead and watch this movie I have with her in it. It is one I never seen before. It is one I have mixed feelings about. There is some stuff here I liked as well as some stuff I didn't. There is lots of blood and gore in this one. And the movie keeps a rather fast pace. The acting could use some work. I personally thought the infected vultures was a bit much... and would have liked to seen the way it spread in that portion of the movie done differently. But over-all it is a fairly entertaining film. The movie is in a triple feature set (2 discs). Considering I paid $3 and change for the entire set I feel I got my money worth... though I hope the other two movies in the set are a bit better then this one.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
After watching The Rage I decided to watch the only other title I have at the moment with Erin Brown/Misty Mundae. This one I have seen before. I basically have mixed feelings about. Parts of it I enjoyed.... other parts not so much. I think one thing I didn't like was the design of the bug. Though I do understand it must be difficult to design a bug that looks like nothing you ever seen before... and it being the size they needed it to be. There is some things that they play for comedic value... others for shock value. Of all I enjoyed it... though I wouldn't say it is my favorite episode of Masters of Horror.

Watching this movie you can't help but to think of the movie Jaws which was released 3 years earlier.
I really like Joe Dante. He never got real big (I suppose Innerspace was his biggest hit, oh and The Burbs maybe), but he almost always delivers quality work. Heck, is latest film still has no distribution in the US...?

So, if you found this reminding you of Jaws then they were really successful, as that was what they intended to do ;) A spoof on Spielberg's monster fish movie... Avoid the sequel; I have never seen it but common consensus is it's crap. James Cameron's name is on it, but he left halfway through to make Teminator.

If you ever get the chance, buy this book:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dreaming-Aloud-Films-James-Cameron/dp/038525816X/ref=sr_1_10?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1318727934&sr=1-10

Although it stops at Titanic it is an excellent read, especially with regards to his career at Roger Corman's company where he started as an art effects man. It has a whole chapter dedicated to Piranha 2, and all the crap that happened on set with who was in charge of what. Also a lot of info on the ideas behind and scheduling conflicts between Terminator and Alien films he was obviously involved in. Very informative and a recommended read (and actually quite candid in parts). I wouldn't have picked this book up but got it for practically nothing in a charity shop.

The Walking Dead: Season 2": What Lies Ahead
In the season 2 premiere, Rick and the group leaves Atlanta and encounter a threat on the highway the likes of which they've never seen. Elsewhere, the group search for a missing person.

My Thoughts:
an excellent start of the new season! I loved every minute of it! If you remember right... towards the end of the season 1 finale the scientist whispers something in Rick's ear. Well the very first thing in this episode you get teased with what that is... but they still don't tell us! I want to know what the big secret is! Oh... and the way this one ended! The very first episode of the season and we get a cliffhanger! I so can't wait till next week now!

Sheer terror can't pump enough adrenaline through these bodies to help them out of this remote forest in this gruesome tale of horror. Severed stands heads (and other body parts) above the rest!

Extras:

My Thoughts:
This is a zombie movie... but different. In this one they can put the zombie down permanently if they shoot them in the head or the heart. Which seemed strange to me. They also limited the amount of gore in this one. And a zombie movie with less gore don't cut it too well. It isn't a terrible movie... but it isn't what I would call great either. Maybe part of the problem is watching this after enjoying The Walking Dead so much.

My Thoughts:
I got this set for no other reason then nostalgia. I haven't seen this show since they originally aired. I was only about 10yrs old at the time. Since I haven't seen it since I was of course worried going into it... afraid it wouldn't hold up to my childhood memory. This morning I went ahead and watched the first disc of the 3 disc set. Which has the first 5 episodes of the series (out of a total of 16 episodes).

I am happy to say that this series held up well for me. Sure it is silly... sure it is corny. But I also found it to be just fun. It reminded me of my childhood. I almost felt like a kid again watching it. So I enjoyed every minute of watching the first disc worth of episodes again. That however doesn't mean I recommend this one to someone that didn't grow up watching the series. I think this one is just for those of us that has fond memories of the series from our childhood. I will try to get Brittany to watch some episodes when I watch the next disc to give me more of an idea how someone new to the show would feel about it.

Rating:R : Violence/Gore, Language, Some Sexuality & Drug Use

Audio:English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo
Subtitles:None

Stars:
Misty Mundae as Lilith
Erika Smith as Aisha
Nikos Psarras as Sam
Ronnie Kerr as Jim
John Castine as Abusive Stepfather
Deena Wolfe-Guerin as Daisy

Plot:
"Sinful" marks the fifth screen collaboration between writer/director Tony Marsiglia (Lust for Dracula, Sin Sisters) and renowned 'B' movie actress Misty Mundae (Shock-O-Rama, Spiderbabe). Together they deliver a dark, brutal and vicious film that is sexually provocative and psychologically intense. It's a horrifying vision of maternal instinct gone past the edge of sanity - a story literally 'torn from today's headlines'!

Lilith (Misty Mundae) cannot conceive a child no matter how hard she tries and how desperately she wishes. As her marriage begins to unravel, so does her hold on reality slowly and painfully and dangerously slip away. A beautiful neighbor who has just become pregnant befriends Lilith, and their relationship ignites a furious envy within her that turns increasingly threatening. Cursed with a body refusing to bear life and driven mad by psychotic fantasy, Lilith will stop at nothing to experience happiness with a child - any child. She will become a mother, right this very moment, however monstrous and shocking the consequences might be.

My Thoughts:
After watching this movie I am still not 100% sure of what all I saw here. A very weird film. I think I will have to watch it again with the director's commentary on to get all the finer points of the film. It basically felt like you were inside the head of a crazy person for the entire film.  But even with that said... it had me glued to my seat. I just couldn't stop watching... I had to see what they were going to do next. This movie has a little bit of everything... it has a bit of blood... it has a bit of gore... it has nudity... all wrapped up in this surreal storyline. I did watch some of the extras on this disc. That is where I learned that the entire movie was shot in only 5 days. Considering the budget and the time they had... I am pretty impressed with it.

As I have said... I have become a fan of Erin Brown (credited as Misty Mundae here). And I thinks she was right good in this one. I wouldn't say she was quite as good in it as she was in the Masters of Horror episode... as I really liked her in that. But it was pretty close. While I still think I need to watch it again... possibly with the commentary on... over-all I liked it. Glad I have it in my collection now.

My Thoughts:
This is a TV movie that I got as part of the Vault of Horror boxset. After getting the 2011 remake yesterday I thought I would watch the original followed by the remake today. It seems that TV Movies are usually looked down on. But I personally have always enjoyed a good TV Movie. The fact that they were originally made for TV don't bother me in the least. While this particular one isn't one of the best I have seen.... it is a little on the slow side for my taste... I still enjoy it.  One thing that I personally always liked about TV Movies is that there is normally names I am familiar with from TV series and such. But not in this case. Unfortunately there is no one in this movie I really know from anything else. Over-all I enjoyed this movie... but it could have been better.

Starring John Schneuder ("The Dukes of Hazzard," "Smallville") and Jason London (Dazed and Confused). Are you ready to meet the Snow Beast?

Extras:

My Thoughts:
This is a remake of the last movie I watched. I have to say I like this version much more. Not only do you get a more updated version... you get better views of the Snow Beast. A better... more interesting storyline and a bit more blood. But not to worry if you are the squeamish type. There is still very little blood in it. I also like the fact that this one stars John Schneider. I been a fan of his since he starred in the old TV Series The Dukes of Hazzard. Most people probably know him as Johnathan Kent in Smallville. Over-all liked this one quite a bit. can see myself watching it again. I am glad I have it in my collection.

Axed from the movie studio that made her a household name, world famous horror actress Rebecca Raven (Misty Mundae) travels to the country for rest & relaxation - and a battle with a flesh-starved ghoul hungry to turn her into zombie left-overs. Meanwhile, the studio executives rifle through past productions to find a sexy new star for their next film, and two fright flicks grab them by the eyeballs. One of them features killer aliens crash-landed in a junkyard that wage war on its shotgun-toting owner with a 50-foot-tall demon borne of scrap metal and car parts. In the other, an over-sized, under-stimulated hunk of evil brain experiments on beautiful young women for the purpose of experiencing human sensual pleasure. Can these bloodthirsty creatures somehow be real? And will there be a brand new "Rebecca Raven" to send them kicking and screaming back to monster hell?

Extras:

My Thoughts:
This is an anthology horror that I just got which has Misty Mundae in it. Needless to say it is a low budget release. This one I enjoyed quite a bit. Definitely easier to understand then Sinful was. I liked how they tied all the stories together... using a studio trying to find a new star so watching tapes of others work. My favorite story in this one is Zombie This which just happens to be the one with Misty Mundae. It is also a big part of the wrap around story. If you don't mind the look/acting in low-budget films this is one that I would recommend. I had a lot of fun watching it.

You aren't the only one this year. Mine don't go too well and the level of activity in the group thread is inexistant. Except for you, me and Marie nobody review what they watch :(

Sam review some horror movie too but not in a dedicated thread. Achim participate but don't review. Sebastien doesn't watch anything since he have too many new games to play with. I've no idea why Hal, Kevin and Jon don't participate (except real life coming in the way of course...).

Yeah, I didn't go out of my way to review horror, just how the viewing happened to fall. I'm not really one for genre-specific marathons, especially month-long ones as I find I quickly find I require something of a different pace.

My Thoughts:
This is the first time I ever seen this movie. Watching it I felt a little lost at first. This may be because it has been a very long time since I seen the previous movies. But once I got into the storyline I enjoyed it just as much as the previous movies. I love the combination of horror and action in these movies. Great visuals and action sequences that are just a lot of fun to watch.

One of my favorite episodes of one of my favorite TV Series! I normally don't care for what I call "Period Pieces"... movies/episodes that take place well into the past. But this is definitely an exception. I liked the way that they showed there was a lot of magic know-how lost over the years. And I especially liked the reveal of who it was they went back in time to save. Excellent episode!

Really good episode... and another Halloween one. I keep forgetting about this Halloween episode... as it is really low key... Halloween is not the main focus of the storyline. The Walking Dead: Season 2: Bloodletting

My Thoughts:
Another episode I enjoyed quite a bit. Not quite as much as the first one of the season... but still very good. Maybe I am getting spoiled by DVDs... but I found myself getting aggravated by all the cliffhangers and having to wait for a week for the next episode. While watching it on DVD I don't have to wait. So watching it as it airs is a bit off-putting. While there is a bit of zombie action in this episode... it is much more story oriented then action-packed.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
This is the final of the Halloweentown movies. My first time seeing it. Brittany's second time. Another one that we enjoyed. In this one the youngest sister was missing. And the oldest sister is played by a different actress. We did enjoy it... but I don't think it was quite as good as the previous movie. But it has a few good chuckles in it. While I enjoyed watching the Halloweentown movies... of course the best part about it was doing so with my teen daughter.  Getting to spend the day with her was more important to me then anything I could have watched.

American Horror Story
American Horror Story is a dramatic television series created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. The story focuses on a family that moves to a house Los Angeles, unaware that it is haunted.

Father Ben Harmon (Dylan McDermott) is trying to deal with his wife's rejection after he has an affair with a student, and soon falls under the house's sway. Meanwhile, wife Vivien (Connie Britton) must not only try to forgive her husband but deal with the aftereffects of a miscarriage. Daughter Violet (Taissa Farmiga) is confronted with hostile girls at her new school and befriends her father's disturbed teenage patient, Tate Langdon (Evan Peters). And lurking nearby is neighbor Constance (Jessica Lange), a former actress who both hates and is oddly protective of her special-needs daughter Adelaide (Jamie Brewer), who can sense the house's evil.

Episodes:
- Pilot
- Home Invasion
- Murder House

My Thoughts:
A new horror series that started this month on FX. I been looking forward to this series since I first heard about it. Unfortunately... while I did enjoy it... the pilot episode didn't live up to my expectations. But it didn't take long for me to get into the storyline and started to enjoy the series more with each episode that I watched. My favorite episode so far is Home Invasion. Out of the first three episodes that aired so far that one kept my interest the most.

Last Man Standing: Last Halloween Standing
Mike feels let down when his daughters aren't into celebrating Halloween with him the way they used to. He decides that his two-year-old grandson, Boyd, can be his perfect trick or treat partner. But Kristin, Boyd's mother, adamantly tells him that she doesn't want her son to go out on Halloween. Mike sneaks him out -- with a plan to get the child home before Kristin gets back from work.

My Thoughts:
A Halloween episode of the new Tim Allen sitcom. I have been enjoying this show quite a bit since it started. Tim Allen dresses as John Wayne from Green Berets. His wife (played by Nancy Travis) was dressed as a Sexy Pirate Princess. This episode also has a special guest appearance by Elvira. This is the first Halloween episode of the current season that I have seen so far. And was a good start.

But it's not Tim Allen's play that achieves this. It's the marvellous acting of Alan Rickman, Sig Weaver, Sam Rockwell and the young Justin Long.

Similar but opposite from Home Improvement. He plays the same type of character. This time he has 3 daughters instead of sons. And one of them is a teen mom and they are helping her raise her son. In this one Tim plays a guy working in what seems to be a hunting/survival store. And he does video demonstrations and such for their webpage. So far... while I am enjoying this show quite a bit... I would say not quite as much as Home Improvement.

Yeah, I was taking the mick with Toy Story, but I absolutely disagree with this. The co-stars are marvellous, but that's what they are: co-stars and sidekicks. It's Allen's character who leads the film as the sort of straight-man. I really enjoyed his performance in that film. He was the anchor, as well as being part of one of the best comedy casts for years.

I should point out that I can't appreciate how he performed in relation to other roles. I haven't seen even a nano-second of HI and the only other film I can think of with him in was Redbelt, which was a fairly serious role. I just appreciated that he pitched the character perfectly in GQ and several of his lines come back to me as fast as Alan "...to find a PUB!" Rickman.

Supernatural
Season seven finds Dean and Sam reeling from the loss of their friend. Sam's violent memories of Hell threaten to overtake him, threatening not just his life, but his brother's as well. Meanwhile, Dean struggles under the weight of a secret that threatens to tear them apart. And even as the brothers traverse the backroads of America, hunting things that go bump in the night, something is coming for them. They are about to face an enemy more canny and adaptable than any they've ever fought. As the landscape around them becomes increasingly treacherous, the tools they've come to rely upon will be stripped away. Our heroes, like so many outlaws before them, will find themselves utterly outmatched and outgunned, with no one to rely on but each other.

Episodes:
1. Meet the New Boss
2. Hello, Cruel World
3. The Girl Next Door
4. Defending Your Life
5. Shut Up, Dr. Phil

My Thoughts:
Between last night and this morning I just watched the first 5 episodes of the new season of Supernatural. I enjoyed all the episodes so far. My favorite episode so far has to be Defending Your Life for a serious episode. though I also really enjoyed Shut Up, Dr. Phil which guest starred Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters... both of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame. Though this one was done in a somewhat more fun/silly way.

My Thoughts:
Feeling a little brave this morning I decided to watch a movie out of the Mill Creek Entertainment's b]Horror Classics: 100 Movie Pack[/b]. So I decided on this Bela Lugosi film I never seen before. Hoping it wouldn't be as bad as some of the other movies in this set. The first thing I noticed... and no I am not surprised... the print leaves a lot to be desired. Lots of scratches and such on the film. The audio is so low on this one that I had to turn my TV up all the way just to hear it. The movie itself... while and interesting idea... just didn't hold my attention as much as I would have liked. I actually found myself getting a bit bored within the first 15 minutes. Unfortunately Bela Lugosi did nothing for me in this one. Though I did like how they did him up as the Ape Man. But over all... this one did little more then just bore me.

The Big Bang Theory: The Good Guy Fluctuation

My Thoughts:
If I am not mistaken... last night's episode of The Big Bang Theory is the first one since season one. Which is a shame... as Halloween episodes has always been among my favorites... no matter the series. I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. It was a lot of fun watching Sheldon trying to get even with the other guys for their Halloween prank. Though I must admit I saw the outcome of the Leonard/Priya storyline coming from a mile away. I also wish Penny had a larger part in this episode. It seemed like they barely used her at all this week.

My Thoughts:
When I first bought this four movie set I was told by a few people that Drive-Thru is a good one. After watching it I am not sure how I want to rate this one. Some scenes I enjoyed quite a bit... yet other scenes just didn't work to keep my attention fully. When it first started I thought I would straight-out hate this one. But then I started to enjoy. From there it went back and forth between the two through-out the rest of the movie. All the music in this one took away from it for me as well. But it has some decent kills in it. And how can you not enjoy the fact that the killer is "Horny the Clown." Though I do think they could have done his look a little better. The fact that his mouth was a drive-thru speaker box kinda bugged me a bit... as in a little too silly. Over-all I think I am glad I gave it a chance. It was worth the time I put into it... but it could have been better.

Another movie from the same set as Drive-Thru. This one I enjoyed a bit more. I liked the main storyline. The characters are more likable. I also liked how they did the effects. I loved this episode and how Sheldon kept trying to scare everyone..though I could have done without the snake.
I just hope the development with Leonard/Pryia means the end of that mess.  I agree, Penny needed more to do.  It might have been interesting to see Amy..especially if someone - maybe Penny - got her in on another prank against Sheldon.  Hmm...Penny didn't get to scare him..that's not fair.

But is it common sense or magic that's helping the townfolk? And will they ever be able to accept her as one of their own?

My Thoughts:
I decided to watch this one today for a few reasons. First she has mysterious witchy powers... so it fits a bit there. Then movie does cover Halloween in a few scenes... so fits there as well. And then last night Hallmark Channel aired the newest sequel to the series... The Good Witch's Family. So I wanted to at least watch this first one again before watching it. Though I may decide to watch the other two sequels as well.

I really like the character of Cassandra Nightingale (The Good Witch)... the lovely Catherine Bell did a wonderful job in the role. I couldn't imagine anyone doing it better. If there is anything I didn't care for though... it would be that the ending felt like it was settled a little quickly and easily. But that didn't really take away from the movie for me. This is definitely a fun family watch. Unfortunately this DVD has no extras what so ever.

The Good Witch's Family
Kind witch Cassie (Catherine Bell) welcomes her long-lost cousin Abigail (Sarah Power) into her home in the fourth installment of this whimsical film series. Abigail stirs up trouble, however, as she tries to tear Cassie's family apart.

My Thoughts:
I don't know what it is about this series of films that I like so much. Granted I am a Catherine Bell fan... but I don't normally go for the sweet, always happy ending type. At least not this much. It is just a cute and fun movie... I enjoyed it.

But the town's got an unlikely new hero, if they can only stay alive long enough to stop the unstoppable.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
I went into this one somewhat excited as I enjoyed the remake of part 1. But this one didn't work quite as much for me. It started out pretty good and I thought I would really enjoy it. But then as I watch I realize there is something wrong here. First... what happened to the town? Haddonfield always seemed to be an average middle-classed town. But in this one it feels more like a back-woods redneck town more then anything else. They really turned Loomis' character into quite a jerk in this one. I mean they just ruined his character in this one. And to be quite honest none of the characters is all that likable this time around. Then there was quite a lot of scenes that were just plain too dark. I mean I understand it is night-time... but we should still be able to see what is going on. I do applaud Rob Zombie for making the remake his own... I mean this is definitely not a carbon copy of the original Halloween series! But I didn't like getting so deep into Michael Myer's head. In my eyes it took away from who/what Michael Myers is. This is turning out to be a very negative review here... but there is some things I did like about it as well. Mostly how they keep things moving... how they keep the tension up. Maybe I should have re-watched the original remake before this one... but I am really not sure if that would have made things for this one better or worse. If you want to check this one out for yourself... let me suggest that you be sure to get it cheap... or better yet... catch it on cable.

Seth Green as Oz
Anthony Head [Anthony Stewart Head] as Giles

Plot:
A Halloween party at a campus frat house takes a frightening turn with the sudden appearance of blood-sucking bats, zombies, and a demon that plays on everyone's innermost fears.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
Another fun Halloween episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I like how they noted the first Halloween episode where Xander made sure he was something cool and tough just in case they were turned into their costumes again. I also had to laugh at Anya wanting to dress up as something scary so she dressed as a bunny since they frighten her! And got to say I got a kick out of when they revealed the Fear Demon. Definitely a fun episode!

As I said before I ever started the marathon this month... my heart just wasn't in it. I am now calling it quits for this year. Hopefully I will be more into it next year. I knew I wasn't going to do too good on the number of movies... but think I did ok considering. Definitely was more of a TV Episode year this year... a goal I did meet!

Sorry I couldn't provide as many reviews as I normally do!

Don't worry Pete you did what you can
I don't think anybody did great this year.
Anyway you write a ton of reviews in a year so I'm sure we will see some horror movies reviewed by you in a near future.
