Plot:
So you think you know the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Don't be to sure...One of your favorite fairy tales is turned upside-down and inside-out in what the L.A.Times called "high-energy, imaginative entertainment." Whit irreverent storytelling, spunk and wit, Hoodwinked delivers a comedy caper for the young, the young at heart and everyone in between. When the police arrive at Granny's cottage in the woods to answer a domestic disturbance call, it looks like just another open-and-shut case. But Red, Granny, the Big Bad Wolf and the woodsman are not your usual suspects, as they have their own dark secrets, wily deceptions and conflicting accounts of the crime. Together, they must put aside their differences and find their own original twist on Happily Ever After in this "raucous, genre-busting, animated gem (Entertainment Weekly, The Must List)."

My Thoughts:
This is one of the movies that was given to me in a box full of DVDs back in April. When Brittany and I decided to watch a movie together this morning I thought this one would be a good choice. Turns out she had seen it before... but this is the first time I ever seen it. We had a right good time watching this one. Found it to be a cute family film. I thought the way they did this film with a police investigation... having different point of views interwoven together to be a very creative way to tell the story. A story that is a fun play on the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale. I thought they did all the characters great... but I must admit I really got a kick out of Twitchy, the squirrel. He was just hilarious to watch. Both Brittany and I laughed out loud more then once while watching that little guy. A character I didn't like? Has to be that damn singing goat! After seeing him on screen for more then a minute I was ready to do some goat hunting! This is one film I recommend checking out if you get the chance.

My Thoughts:

I was sure I had watched this movie years ago... I mean who hasn't seen Heathers? After it was over I realized this was my first viewing.

Well, it certainly wasn't shy when it came to making a statement. In fact, it's easy to see why this became a cult classic... they made fun of teenage suicide! What better way to get people's attention!!

It started to get a little too silly for my liking after awhile and I thought to myself what kind of movie would it have been had they removed all the comedy elements and made this a serious movie about teenage angst? I think the impact may have been greater than it already was.

Christian Slater was quite the young pup and I get the feeling he was somewhat emulating Jack Nicholson... perhaps without even realizing it.

Wynona Ryder gave a performance that was quite similar to other roles she had around that time... slightly goth, sharp tongued and with a smart ass opinion about everything. Truly, nobody did it better than she did and I kind of miss that from her out of the meager performances we've seen from her lately.

The comedic spin on such a morbid subject was likely groundbreaking, even by late 80's standards. Nowadays nothing is taboo or sacred when it comes to film making. Brokeback Mountain was probably the last film to raise eyebrows.  ???

Xena: Warrior Princess Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 2: Disc 1

1. Orphan of War
When Xena tries to help the centaurs protect a sacred stone that contains their evil, she encounters someone from her past...her son.

My Thoughts:
A good episode. As the plot says in this episode we learn of Xena's son. I didn't remember this from when I watched this series on TV. So not sure if we ever hear from him again or not. In this episode Xena has to go against one of the men that used to be in her army. A man very greedy for power.

My Rating:

2. Remember Nothing
The Three Fates offer Xena the opportunity to erase her past - including her brother's untimely death - but only if she vows to never shed blood in anger again.

My Thoughts:
Wow... impressive. This is another episode I don't remember ever seeing before. It is nice knowing I have episodes in these sets that I never seen before to look forward to. This one is an alternate reality/What if episode that I thought was very well done. I enjoyed every minute of it.

My Rating:

3. Giant Killer
Xena is caught between a rock and a hard place when she's pitted against her friend Goliath in a battle between the Israelites and the Philistines.

My Thoughts:
Whatta ya know... Xena was there when David put down Goliath. Not a bad episode... though not the best I have seen. Entertaining anyway.

My Rating:

4. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Xena is forced to take on the Bacchae - bloodthirsty minions of the wine god, Bacchus - to get to their power-hungry leader and foil his plan to take over the world.

My Thoughts:
Somehow I completely forgot about this episode till I got to it. I don't know how I could forget they did a take on the Vampire legend. And yes... I of course loved every minute of it. It is definitely a favorite.
