Fanboys, a review by Silence_of_Lambs

Fanboys

Summary:
Star Wars fans travel to Skywalker Ranch to steal an early copy of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

My Thoughts:
Not quite sure what I actually expected of the movie.
But definitely not this: A "Road - Coming of Age - Comedy - Screwball" Movie. And believe it or not, it's actually good (provided you're not a Trekkie, then you are allowed to hate it  :P).
The story is way too much off the track to be "believable", but hey, it's a comedy, if you expect realism watch a documentary.
Many of the scenes look familiar and this is intended: We are talking about a hommage to the look and feel of the pre-"Episode I"-era here and so of course you'll find some hints on the movies the nerds wasted their time with until Episode I was released.
What made this film so nice for me is that one of the characters seemed to be me (Hell, I even had the same T-Shirt and for some reason the cassette-player in my car only ever knew one band  :bag:)

So all you nerds out there: If you want to make a time travel and remember how it was to wait for Episode I (the, as it later showed, by far worst part of the franchise), watch this movie, it's about you.
All the others get a quite enjoyable flick about 5 friends on a mission impossible.

My Rating: (out of possible 5)

Spellbound, a review by Dragonfire

Spellbound

A dedicated psychiatrist (Ingrid Bergman) falls for a man (Gregory Peck) who may or may not be a cold-blooded murderer.

My Thoughts

I enjoyed this movie overall.  Some scenes do move slower and there it almost seems at times if the psycho babble stuff is tossed in more often to make the movie longer, but I still think it is entertaining overall.  The characters are interesting for the most part and I was interested in finding out the truth about Peck's character.  I did think that the relationship between Constance and Dr. Edwards progressed faster than was believable, but I still enjoyed the movie.

The dream sequence is interesting and a bit..bizarre...which works.  I do wonder what the sequence would have been like if Selznick hadn't cut much of it.

The extras on my version of the DVD are interesting.  There is one about Dali and the dream sequence and it also covers the fact that Selznick cut a lot of the scene.  A few little memos from Selznick are shown.  Another one talks about psychoanalysis and how it was used in the movie.  There is also one about an actress.  I can't remember her name at the moment, but she talks about being discovered.  The extras were interesting.

Overall I really enjoyed this movie.

I did get a review posted on Epinions.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Season 4: Disc 2

EPISODE 5: BEER BAD
Buffy starts behaving strangely after sharing a pitcher of Black Frost beer with a group of fellow college students at the campus pub where Xander bartends.

My Thoughts:
This episode.. while it is ok... is probably one of my least favorite episodes. I don't even know why I dislike it... I don't want to say the episode was far fetched... as what Buffy episode isn't? But to me it just didn't fit in well with the rest I guess.

EPISODE 6: WILD AT HEART
Willow's feelings of jealousy over a sexy singer at the Bronze are confirmed when she discovers the woman is a werewolf who has her eye on Oz.

My Thoughts:
This episode I enjoyed... I thought it was a good... emotional ending to the whole Oz/Willow thing. Made for a strong episode.

EPISODE 7: THE INITIATIVE
Buffy begins a relationship with Riley Finn unaware that he is part of a military organization tracking down and experimenting on the demons and vampires of Sunnydale.

My Thoughts:
OK... let me go on record of saying I never liked the Initiative story-line... and was never much of a fan of Riley either. so to me... this one was a decent episode... nothing more.

EPISODE 8: PANGS
Warned that Buffy may be in great danger, Angel returns to Sunnydale just as the spirit of a Chumash warrior rises to avenge the death of his people.

My Thoughts:
Pretty cool episode... now that Spike is neutered we are starting to see the more funny Spike... I did find a Thanksgiving episode of Buffy a little on the strange side... but I think they definitely pulled it off.
