All-Star Superman, a review by Tom
Stars:Plot: Fueled by hatred and jealousy, Lex Luthor masterminds an elaborate plot to kill the Man of Steel - and it works. Poisoned by solar radiation, Superman is dying. With weeks to live, he fulfills his life's dreams - especially revealing his true identity to Lois Lane - until Luthor proclaims his ultimate plan to control the world with no alien hero to stop him. Powers fading, Superman engages in a spectacular deadly battle with Luthor that could truly trigger the end of Earth's Greatest Protector. This startling and gripping DC Universe animated original movie stars the voice talents of James Denton, Anthony LaPaglia, Christine Hendricks and Ed Asner. Extras:
My Thoughts: Disappointing. Poor voice-acting and a boring story I didn't like. I was expecting something better, after the great "Superman: Doomsday" animated film. Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on November 9th, 2011) Bully, a review by JimmyMOVIE / DVD INFO: Title: Bully (2001) Genre: Drama Director: Larry Clark Rating: Unrated Length: 1h53 Video: Widescreen Audio: English and Music Only Subtitles: English and Spanish Stars: Brad Renfro Nick Stahl Bijou Phillips Rachel Miner Leo Fitzpatrick Plot: Acclaimed director Larry Clark delivers his most powerful film since Kids. Marty (Brad Renfro) is a tormented surfer who, despite vicious abuse, relies on his longtime pal, Bobby (Nich Stahl), for rides to the beach and local South Florida bars. When Bobby turns his unwanted attention to Marty's new girlfriend Lisa (Rachel Miner) and her best friend Ally (Bijiou Phillips), Lisa decides Bobby's reign of terror must end. Assembling a crew of alienated suburban teens, she forms a deadly plan to get Bobby out of the way once and for all. As the conspiracy unfolds, friends turn into enemies and casual acquaintances become co-defendants to a murder that rocked America to its core. My Thoughts: This one is based on a true crime and it follows the testimony that the kids did at their trial. This explain why Bobby is painted as a real bad guy, seriously he is shown as a complete crazy menacing guy. But, the problem is that nothing is logic or believable in this story. Sorry, but the fact made no sense... Why you could continue to hang out with a friend who treat you bad, no link exist you don't depend on him in any way. But I ain't the only one who think that their story make no sense since they were all found guilty. The film itself is a good one. The acting is good, particullary Rachel Miner that I've never seen act before (the only reason why I was knowing her name is because she was maried to Macaulay Culkin) and Brad Renfro (a perfect exemple of a good child actor who had turned bad getting the chance to revive his career with an independant movie, the result 7 years later he is dead of a drug overdose... What a waste of talent). Another recommandation, but I have to warn you that this film countains a lot of nudity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8dLkbNq3fA Rating : (From F***** Up Teenagers Marathon on April 20th, 2009) Pete's Pilots, a review by addicted2dvdMalcolm in the Middle Pilot Malcolm introduces us to his world, dominated by omnipresent schoolyard bully Spath and made worse by his enforced friendship with Stevie, an asthmatic wheelchair genius. When a battery of tests reveals that Malcolm has an IQ of 165, he is moved into Stevie's special accelerated class, despite his protests that "around here being intelligent is exactly the same as being radioactive." On the bright side, Malcolm discovers a practical application for intelligence when he and Stevie spontaneously hit on a solution to Spath's persistent tyranny. My Thoughts: This is a fun comedy. Though I do think it is a bit out there with the dysfunctional family thing. Much like the next one I am about to watch. But it definitely has some laughs in it... and worth checking out. Unfortunately there was only the first season that was ever released. My Rating: (From Pete's Pilots on March 25th, 2010) |
