Wishmaster, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Angus Scrimm Ari Barak Jake McKinnon Greg Funk Andrew Divoff Richard Assad Plot: Magically powerful. Supernaturally evil. The ancient entity known in human legend as the Djinn can grant a person's wildest dreams. And in the process, it unleashes your darkest nightmares. The moral of this explosively terrifying, special-effects-powered, horror-fantasy spectacular: Be careful what you wish for! Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Featurettes Production Notes Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This is another movie I haven't seen in several years. It is one I did enjoy though. I remembered liking it... but what I didn't remember is this one has it's share of gore in it. It also has cameos of not 1... not 2... but three genre actors well known to horror fans. There is... Robert Englund who of course played Freddy Krueger. Then there is Kane Hodder who Played Jason in several of the Friday the 13th movies. And then there is Tony Todd who is well known as the Candyman. If by chance you never seen this movie... it is one I feel comfortable recommending. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 Count: Movie Count: 76 TV Ep. Count: 47 I Made It! (10/20) Other Count: 8 I Made It! (10/15) (From Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon: 2010 on October 22nd, 2010) Hostel, a review by addicted2dvdHostel Presented by Quentin Tarantino ('Kill Bill, Vols. 1 & 2') and written and directed by Eli Roth ('Cabin Fever'), HOSTEL is a shocking and relentless film about two Americans (Jay Hernandez of 'Friday Night Lights' and Derek Richardson of 'Dumb and Dumberer') backpacking through Europe who find themselves lured in as victims of a murder-for-profit business. My Thoughts: The first thing I noticed about this movie is that when watching the first half an hour of the movie you can forget that you are even watching a horror movie. That first half an hour feels more like a movie about college buddies backpacking it through Europe. But then when they get to this one particular Hostel... that is where all the fun begins. Then the horror hits pretty good. This is not much of a movie for scares... it is more of a shock value type horror... with a generous amount of gore. Though I will admit that I remembered it to be a bit gorier from the first time I watched it. Over-all... while it is not the best horror movie I have seen lately. I did enjoy it quite a bit... and can see myself watching it again. My Ratings: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Gore-Fest on June 14th, 2009) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom
Plot: WHO-O-O-O-OSH! The origins and exploits of the crimefighting DC Comics superhero come your way at lightning speed in this 22-episode live-action series. John Wesley Shipp portrays Barry Allen, a police crime technologist endowed with sudden talents after a fluke lab accident. He pledges to use his new powers for good, powers that include ultra-speed reflexes and the ability to vibrate his molecules so rapidly he can pass through solid walls. Amanda Pays is medical researcher Tina McGee, who monitors Allen's accelerated metabolism and guards his secret identity. The Trickster, Captain Cold, the Ghost, mad inventors: Central City is rife with criminals. Now there's a hero to keep pace with them. He's called The Flash. And in our era of instant communications, he's more in step with the times than ever. The Flash 1.01 Pilot Writer: Danny Bilson (Writer), Paul De Meo (Writer) Director: Robert Iscove Cast: John Wesley Shipp (Barry Allen), Amanda Pays (Tina McGee), Alex Desert (Julio Mendez), Paula Marshall (Iris), Michael Nader (Pike), Tim Thomerson (Jay Allen), Priscilla Pointer (Nora Allen), Lycia Naff (Lila), Richard Belzer (Joe Kline), Robert Hooks (Chief Arthur Cooper), M. Emmet Walsh (Henry Allen), Patrie-Allen (Eve Allen), Biff Manard (Murphy), Vito D'Ambrosio (Bellows), Wayne Pere (Rick), Justin Burnette (Shawn Allen), Eric DaRe (Tyrone), Ricky Dean Logan (Scott), Mariko Tse (Linda Park), Sam Vlahos (Dr. Lawrence), Josh Cruze (Petrolli), David L. Crowley (Swat Captain), Virginia Morris (Mother), Richard Hoyt-Miller (Young Father), Jan Stango (Young Mother), Brad "Cat" Sevy (Waiter) An okay pilot. But not one I overly enjoy. Though I think Dawson's dad is a good fit for Flash. Danny Elfman provided the theme and as usual it sounds like all his other stuff. After his excellent Batman theme all his superhero themes (and even some of his other movie themes) sound just like another take on it. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on June 13th, 2011) |
