Stars: Ryan Reynolds as Van Wilder Tara Reid as Gwen Pearson Tim Matheson as Vance Wilder Sr. Kal Penn as Taj Mahal Badalandabad Teck Holmes as Hutch Daniel Cosgrove as Richard Bagg Plot: You'll never think of bulldogs, pastries, protein shakes or tutors in the same way again...National Lampoon's Van Wilder stars Rayn Reynolds as a 7th-year student who has no plans to graduate. Life is good for Van; he's got a coed in every closet and a party to go to every night. His slick reputation even catches the eye of sexy Gwen Pearson (Tara Reid), an on-campus reporter to expose the naked truth behind his wild exterior. When Gwen enters his life and his father stops paying for his tuition, could Van's days as the king of Coolidge College be over? Find out for yourself in this outrageous laugh-fest that you're sure to go "nuts" over! Extras:
My Thoughts: Just finished watching this one this morning. I been looking forward to it..as I have become a fan of Ryan Reynolds. While I did enjoy it... I was expecting a little more from him. Matter of fact, Tara Reid's performance really didn't feel like it was up to par either. It is a film I did enjoy... but not really sure why I enjoyed it as much as I did. As it really is only average compared to others in it's genre. Though this movie did do one thing a movie hasn't done to me in a long time. I literally gagged at one of their gross-out jokes. For those that seen it... I will say only one word... Pastries. Anyway... if you haven't seen this. I would say it isn't bad... but definitely seen better. Get this one cheap or catch it on cable. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on May 13th, 2012) Hot Shots!, a review by DJ DoenaAugust, 14th Charlie Sheen ... Lt. Topper Harley Cary Elwes ... Lt. Kent Gregory Valeria Golino ... Ramada Thompson Lloyd Bridges ... Adm. Thomas 'Tug' Benson Kevin Dunn ... Lt. Cmdr. James Block Jon Cryer ... Jim 'Wash Out' Pfaffenbach William O'Leary ... Pete 'Dead Meat' Thompson Kristy Swanson ... Kowalski Efrem Zimbalist Jr. ... Wilson Synopsis: In this parody of Top Gun (amongst many others) Topper Harley is a Navy fighter pilot who has mental issues - especially when someone compares him to his father. He and his wing serves on the carrier S.S. Essess and it's their task to destroy a nuclear plant of Saddam Hussein's. But there are also saboteurs who want to prove the ineffectiveness of the current Navy planes in order to sell them new ones. My Opinion: While I still enjoyed this movie very much, I had very few laugh-out-loud moments. There were more sentimental smiles every time I recognized the movie that was spoofed in this scene. But what I found very amusing was to see "Alan Harper" (Two and a Half Men) as 'Wash Out'. I hadn't seen this movie since before I started to watch TaaHM. This was also the first time I watched this movie in English and have to say that there were some good puns in the German dubbing that weren't in the original and I was a bit disappointed. I was like "I wonder what the original version of 'Mach 1, Mach 2, Mach 3, Mach Feierabend!' or 'Heb nicht ab vom Acker ohne deinen Tacker!' will be." and then there was ... nothing. (From DJ Doena's movie watchings 2009 on August 19th, 2009) "Big Bang Theory" Marathon, a review by DJ DoenaDisc 3 The Bat Jar Conjecture Synopsis: The four are going to attend a science quiz - but not on the same team. Sheldon is leader of the "Army Ants" (AA), while Leonard, Raj, Howard and Leslie form the "Perpetual Motion Squad" (PMS). Let the best geek(s) win!My Opinion: This was a great episode and I laughed a lot and the best parts were the janitor's 15 seconds of fame and Penny's very own quiz. The Nerdvana Annihilation Synopsis: Leonard wins an auction for a miniature time machine from the original The Time Machine. Unfortunately it's not that miniature, the scale is more like 1:1. But that proves his geekiness to Penny (again) and he's seeing it, too.My Opinion: Another great episode. I liked all the time travel scenes, both real and imagined and I really liked how Leonard helped Penny to get down in the elevator shaft - even though it was only a dream. The Pork Chop Indeterminacy Synopsis: Sheldon's non-identical twin sister is in town and she's hot! And Rajesh becomes a test subject for a new drug to get rid of his shyness. My Opinion: It was great to see how the three of them tried to hit on her. It was especially funny to watch Raj's attempts and him dealing with the side effects of the drug. The Peanut Reaction Synopsis: Leonard has never had a birthday party because his parents didn't think of it as a good concept. But now Penny's going to change that. Leonard is getting a surprise party, no matter the cost.My Opinion: What was a funny element here - no service personnel in the store and one customer has to advice another - is a sad reality in Germany. And I admired to what lengths Howard was willing to go to prevent the surprise from being spoiled. The Tangerine Factor Synopsis:My Opinion:(From "Big Bang Theory" Marathon on October 10th, 2008) |
