Suzie Heartless, a review by Jimmy

Title : Suzie Heartless (2008)

Overview
SUZIE HEARTLESS tells the dark and harrowing story of the last days in the life of a terrified teenage prostitute. Brutalized, raped and fending off the pains of starvation, Suzie finds her only solace in the quiet home she has created in the derelict basement of a textile warehouse. Haunted by a mysterious young girl, Suzie searches the streets of Los Angeles for her missing family in hopes that she'll be able to recapture the beauty of her lost childhood before succumbing to the misery and violence of reality...and dying like a rat in the gutter.

My Impression
Certainly not the feelgood movie of the year, of course being a Tony Marsiglia's film it was expected but it sure make Chantal (his precedent movie) looks like a no hold bared comedy. I'm sure I have already said it in some of my precedent reviews but for me Marsiglia is the most underated and talented director actually. His productions always deal with very sad situation and most of the time the central woman character is mentally unstable (Lust for Dracula, Sinful) or completly at the end of her rope (this one and ChantalKids. She make you feel that she is the character and not an actress doing a character, all this without having to say a single line (good thing since this movie is completely without dialogue, you read me right this film is silent). Andrea Davis even if her role is small gives her best career performance in this film, proving finally that she is at the same level than Erin Brown and Julian Wells (BTW Liana Davis who play the little girl is her daughter and she is as beautifull as her mother).

Of all the film I've reviewed on this website this is probably the only one I think that could been in the Matthias taste palette. Is it an enjoyable movie? No. Is it an accessible movie? No. Is it a good film? Yes and I'll go farther by qualifying it as a masterpiece a proof that you don't need 100 millions dollars to make the best film of the decade.

A perfect 10 and the first one I've give for a movie made after 1980.

Rating :

Edit : Now you can buy the movie directly from the director on Ebay. Don't forget that when you buy directly from him you will help the financing of future projects.

My Thoughts:

Very intriguing and fascinating movie even though at times I was confused as to what was going on.  :headscratch: It was like playing connect the dots... only the dots keep moving.

The message was clear... big business, more directly OIL business, dictates much of what happens in the world. Corruption, terrorism, political unrest, the removing of obstacles with extreme prejudice... all in a days work for the powers that be who jockey for control of the world's most valuable natural resource. Also, this movie does little to endear the viewer to the Arab oil barons whose obscene wealth is prominently on display.
Clooney was good, Damon was good, Jeffrey Wright was great! Also I've never seen Tim Blake Nelson in a suit before and it was quite a shock to the system.  :o

Great movie if not a bit confusing. Likely no more confusing than the real life double dealings employed by the oil companies.

My Pilot/Finale Episode Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Angel

Pilot:
City oft
Newly arrived in Los Angeles, Angel is befriended by a half-demon named Doyle who visions lead him to a powerful vampire whose next victim just may be Cordelia Chase.

My Thoughts:
This is the start of yet another great series. Watching this episode I was so tempted to continue on through out the whole series. But I knew that I had started this marathon... so this is the one I had to complete. I think my favorite part of this episode was when Cordilia was in the home of that vampire and Angel came to help her... and she said something to the effect of "You don't know who that is do you... ohhhh you are going to get your ass kicked!" That line alone showed this was a whole new series... one where Angel was starting over again where he was not known and had no allies yet.

Finale:
Not Fade Away
The gang prepares to attack the true powers of evil by attempting to take down the Circle of the Black Thorn - a battle none of them expect to survive.

My Thoughts:
When watching this episode what more can you say then... WOW!... talk about going out with a bang! part of me loved this series finale. I thought in a way the ending was ingenious. But then again another part of me wants to cry every time that it ended too soon! I wanted to see what happened from there so badly! I know I said I wanted a Buffy reunion movie before it was too late... but what I think I really want is a combined Buffy/Angel reunion movie! Let us see what happened from here!!!
