Night of the Demons, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Night of the Demons Movie Count: 71 TV Ep Count: 35 Other Count: 2 Time Started: 8:30am Plot: It's Halloween night and Angela is throwing a party, but this is no ordinary spook bash. Everybody's headed to Hull House, a deserted funeral home with a shocking secret in its past and something evil alive in its basement. Now the guests are becoming possessed, and this party's treats include tongue-ripping, eyeball gouging, gratuitous nudity, bloody dismemberment and more. Welcome to the blowout where all Hell is breaking loose: You're invited to NIGHT OF THE DEMONS! Scream Queen 'Linnea Quigley' stars in this twisted 80's splatter-fest dirrected by 'Kevin S. Tenney' (WITCHBOARD) and featuring grisly gore effects by 'Steven Johnson' (DEAD HEAT, SPECIES). NIGHT OF THE DEMONS is presented totally uncut and uncensored and loaded with exclusive new extras for the first time ever on DVD. My Thoughts: This is classic '80s horror. The kind of horror I grew up with... so I definitely have a soft spot for it.This one is definitely a no-brainer popcorn type movie... just a sit back... relax and get lost in the nonsense. Even though I would say this one is basically a low budget horror... I would also say it is at the high end of low budget horrors... if that makes any sense to you. While watching it you don't feel low-budget coming from it... decent effects... including some pretty cool looking demons. Was definitely worth the 90min I put into the movie. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 (From My Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon: 2008 on October 22nd, 2008) Sorrowful Jones, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Bob Hope as Sorrowful Jones Lucille Ball as Gladys O'Neil William Demarest as Regret Bruce Cabot as Big Steve Holloway Thomas Gomez as Reardon Plot: Sorrowful Jones (Bob Hope) takes a bet from a rotten gambler who leaves his young daughter as collateral, forcing him to learn some hard lessons about parenthood with the help of a nightclub singer (Lucille Ball). Extras:
My Thoughts: This one I enjoyed quite a bit. Not surprising with such stars as Bob Hope and Lucille Ball. But it was the little girl that I felt stole the show. A cute little girl and I loved her attitude. This is actually the first film I have seen Lucille Ball in. I just know her from "I Love Lucy"... and while I figured it was the case I was happy to verify with this film that Lucille Ball really could sing. This film may not have a lot of laugh out loud moments... but if you are looking for a fun film to relax and watch I would definitely recommend "Sorrowful Jones." Rating: (From November Movie Marathon: Classic Comedy Greats on November 11th, 2017) Miracles Marathon, a review by addicted2dvdMiracles Marathon 6. The Hand of God Paul comes under investigation by the police after a woman is found murdered in her home, leaving behind her diary where she had sketched his name and image, along with the words "God is nowhere". Guest Stars: Blake Bashoff John Thaddeus Pat Skipper Robert Clotworthy My Thoughts: This is the final episode to air on ABC in it's original run. Thankfully they gave us the entire 13 episodes on this DVD collection. This episode is an interesting one as it continues with the series long storyline. But it did seem a little slow to me. This episode completes the second disc in the set. My Rating: (From Miracles Marathon on December 30th, 2009) |
