Six-year-old Susan has doubts about childhood's most enduring miracle - Santa Claus. Her mother told her the "secret" about Santa a long time ago, so Susan doesn't expect to receive the most important gifts on her Christmas list. But after meeting a special department store Santa who's convinced he's the real thing, Susan is given the most precious gift of all - something to believe in. Starring Richard Attenborough, Elizabeth Perkins, Dylan McDermott and Mara Wilson as Susan, this uplifting and joyous film will make believers out of the entire family. Awards:
Extras: Closed Captioned Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: I thought I should now just finish off the Christmas movie boxset while I was at it. This is the final movie in this boxset. And the main reason that I have bought it. I think this remake of the classic is very well done. I like it at least just as much as the original. Richard Attenborough is just perfect for the role of Kriss Kringle.Rating: (From December Marathons - DISCUSSION AND REVIEW THREAD on December 19th, 2009) Batteries Not Included, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars:Plot: *Batteries Not Included is a delightful fantasy for the whole family presented by Steven Spielberg. When an unscrupulous real estate developer sends thugs to get rid of the last five tenants of a deteriorating apartment building, they need a miracle to save their building from demolition. One night, when all hope seems lost, tiny visitors from outer space mysteriously glide through their windows and begin to turn the tide with their magical powers. Filled with dazzling special effects, this amazing story of intergalactic warmth stars the acclaimed husband-and-wife team of Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy as a pair of feisty long-term tenants whose faith is rewarded in ways they never expected. My Thoughts: This is the first time I have seen this film... and I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It offered a good cast and a story line with a few good laughs in it. This one is definitely worth the time put in to watch it. Lewis Cast: Paul Gross (Constable Benton Fraser), David Marciano (Detective Ray Vecchio), Beau Starr (Lt. Harding Welsh), Tony Craig (Detective Jack Huey), Catherine Bruhier (Elaine), Camilla Scott (Inspector Margaret Thatcher), Maria Therese Rangel (Anita Cortez), Ken Foree (Macon Lacroix), Gordon Pinsent (Fraser Sr.), Jason Blicker (Special Agent Helms), Matthew Bennett (Special Agent Casey), Richard Yearwood (Special Agent Bush), Allan Murley (Bennett), Shaun Austin-Olsen (Lieutenant), Bruce Clayton (Lunatic) I didn't enjoy this episode very much. There is no really plausible reason for our characters to have to play bodyguards. And I didn't like the dream sequences and why is Fraser doubting his skills because of age all of a sudden? The best part in this episode is Thatcher going "We clean our own personell!" And also Fraser's "Ray, duck." was fun. Rating: (From "Due South" marathon on August 19th, 2009) |
