My Thoughts:

One look at this film and you know it is one of Tim Burton's. This is a fun film perfect for the Halloween season. I can see this one easily becoming a Halloween tradition. The story, the atmosphere, the cast... all this makes for a film that is well worth the time put in to watch it. Definitely one I would recommend for a good time with at least most ages in the family.

Three chilling tales of terror are presented to you by your hosts "God" and "Satan" as they travel the rails on a train to nowhere, discussing the fate of the featured characters in each story. The first story features a car accident victim who must assist the physicians treating him in getting body parts from beautiful women. The second story has a man who falls in love with a woman and is then forced to participate in some Russian Roulette games. The final story centers on a man tracking down a Nazi war criminal who may be more than he appears to be.

My Thoughts:
An anthology horror from the '80s that I somehow missed? How is that possible? I have always been a horror fan and Anthologies was always a favorite of mine. But yet somehow this is one I never seen before today. This movie is from that 100 movie boxset I recently got. I went into this one expecting to not be thrilled with it... as a quick look around the net on it beforehand showed it to be a pretty bad stinker. While I have seen worse... this one is pretty bad. First of all... story wise. In this case I enjoyed the wraparound story with God and the Devil bargaining with each other for the souls of the people in the stories to be more entertaining then the stories themselves. If I had to pick one... I would say the second (of the 3) stories was my favorite. The acting as well as the dialog definitely needed some work. The special effects wasn't worth much either. Whenever they showed some sort of creature they used claymation animation. One was for some sort of monstrous insect and the other for a demon. I came to expect a terrible transfer and sound from this 100 movie boxset. But in this case it definitely could have been worse. I mean it was bad... but it was certainly watchable. It felt like a decent VHS print after being viewed a couple dozen times. And that is actually better then some of them after glancing at a couple of the DVDs in this set.

My Rating:

Plot:TONY SHALHOUB is a riot" (TV Guide) in Monk, the show that critics are praising as "fresh, exciting and utterly original." (Chicago Tribune)

Monk's hilarious, offbeat antics have made him unfit for duty but he's back as a police consultant to help out on their most baffling cases. The brilliant but neurotic Monk is now fighting crime as well as his abnormal fears of germs, cars heights, crowds and virtually everything else known to man in "the best detective show to come along in decades." (New York Post)

"Nothing on TV generated more fun than this" (Los Angeles Times) and now you can enjoy the entire first season of Monk on DVD.

Monk is a series I enjoyed watching, but I thought it stayed on air too long. The series got a little tired later on.
Nice surprise: There is an actor I revcognized here which I didn't know the first time around. Fred Ewanuick, who plays Hank on "Corner Gas".
