The Expendables, a review by Dj Doena

Synopsis: Most of the important 80's action dudes join one side or another and then seriously kick one another's ass.

I thoroughly enjoyed this old-style movie, its simple plot and its kick-ass action. And just when you think they've blown everything up already, they blow some more stuff up.

Ponyo, a review by dfmorgan

Ponyo

Year: 2008
Director: Hayao Miyazaki
Cast: Hiroki Doi, Yuria Nara, Tomoko Nagashima
OverviewWatched: 5th Jun 2010
My Thoughts: Another wonderful anime from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. The basic premise of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid with a magical twist. I liked the Wagnerian references to The Ride Of The Valkyrie from that opera.

My Rating: Just loved it to bits so a 5

Dave

Addendum: Think I'll have to sort out all my Studio Ghibli titles and have a marathon session with them.

[Rerun Marathon] Spaced, a review by Tom

8/10

This is the first time I'll watch this series since Shaun of the Dead was released. I saw it two years before that and it was the reason, I went to see Shaun of the Dead in the theater.
Even after the great Shaun of the Dead this series still holds up. It's even funnier than I remember it. Also great camera/editing work. And also great visual gags (like the Velma and Shaggy scene  ).
