Mrs. Doubtfire, a review by KinkyCyborgMrs. Doubtfire Title:Mrs. Doubtfire Year: 1993 Director: Chris Columbus Rating: PG-13 Length: 125 Min. Video: Widescreen 2.35:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.0, English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, French: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: English, Spanish Stars: Robin Williams (1951) Sally Field Pierce Brosnan Harvey Fierstein Polly Holliday Plot: How far would an ordinary father go to spend more time with his children? Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) is no ordinary father, so when he learns his ex-wife (Sally Field) needs a housekeeper, he applies for the job. With the perfect wig, a little makeup and a dress for all occasions, he becomes Mrs. Doubtfire, a devoted British nanny who is hired on the spot. Free to be the "woman" he never knew he could be, the disguised Daniel creates a whole new life with his entire family. Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Deleted Scenes Production Notes Closed Captioned My Thoughts: Quite possibly Robin Williams' crowning achievement in comedy and a favorite of mine. The laughs still hold up well even after 17+ years. Mrs. Doubtfire allowed Williams to showcase all his brilliant comedic strengths. His rapid fire jokes, his wide variety of imitations and mimicry and his wildly animated body language. Despite the obvious showcase of his talent this movie also takes a thoughtful look at the nastiness of divorce and the heartbreak of a broken home. Some favorite scenes... setting his tits on fire in the kitchen, juggling two dinner dates, one in his Doubtfire getup and his interactions with the lonely and horny old bus driver. Sally Field, Pierce Brosnan and Robert Prosky were all good but were really just set decorations to surround Williams with. Never get tired of watching this. Year: 2010 Director: Tony Jaa and Panna Rittikrai Cast: Tony Jaa, Primrata Det-Udom, Chupong Chungpruk Overview: The mighty Tien (TONY JAA), Muay Thai Warrior and fighting legend, has been captured, tortured and left for dead by the eternally cursed tyrant Lord Rajaseena. Beaten beyond any reccognition, Tien is saved by the ancient Kana Khone villagers and revived through their strange, mystical rituals. Returning from the brink of death, Tien must now transform himself into an unstoppable force of vengeance and fury; an ultimate warrior prepared to unleash a storm of bone breaking, neck snapping, skull crushing justice. The original ONG-BAK brought martial arts movies into the new century. With its mind blowing stunts and jaw dropping action sequences it made TONY JAA an instant legend. Following on directly from ONG-BAK 2, part 3 brings an explosive conclusion to the trilogy that has taken action cinema to another level. Essential, unforgettable and simply astounding, there is no other movie experience that could possibly compare to the fearless, gravity defying TONY JAA. Watched: 11th. Dec 2010 My Thoughts: This is a direct sequel to Ong Bak: The Beginning and, to me, this was better than that as whilst still loads of bone-crunching action and weapons the story came over as more cohesive and followable. My Rating: I enjoyed this more so a 3 Dave (From Dave's DVD/Blu-ray Reviews on December 12th, 2010) Doctor Who Marathon, a review by TomDoctor Who Series 1.08 Father's Day Writer: Paul Cornell (Writer) Director: Joe Ahearne Cast: Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Billie Piper (Rose Tyler), Camille Coduri (Jackie Tyler), Shaun Dingwall (Pete Tyler), Robert Barton (Registrar), Julia Joyce (Young Rose), Christopher Llewellyn (Stuart), Frank Rozelaar-Green (Sonny), Natalie Jones (Sarah), Eirlys Bellin (Bev), Rhian James (Suzie), Casey Dyer (Young Mickey) This episode deals with what happens if the doctor (or in this case Rose) tries to change something in their personal history). I liked the scenes with Rose and her Dad. I didn't care so much about the creatures which appear to destroy them because of the changed history. It reminded me a little of the "The Langoliers" TV movie. Though the CGI is better than in that movie. (From Doctor Who Marathon on February 8th, 2014) |
