Video: Widescreen 2.35 Audio: German: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 Subtitles: German Stars: Jesse Metcalfe Shriya Saran Larry Miller Anupam Kher Sara Foster Plot: True love is calling, but you never know whom you'll find on The Other End Of The Line! When a beautiful customer-service operator in India falls for a charming American executive over the telephone, they're in for a serious case of mistaken cultural identity. With a penchant for all things American and a heart full of dreams, Priya (Shriya Saran) flies to San Francisco to meet her destiny, and it looks like love at first sight. Now Priya and Granger (Jesse Metcalfe) must risk everything for true love in this delighful and heartwarming romantic comedy for the global era. Awards: Photo Gallery Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: A fun little movie. It seems that it is mandatory, that in a movie about an Indian family clashing with the western world, Anupam Kher is to play the Indian father (he also was in "Bend It Like Beckham" and "Bride & Prejudice").Though the male lead comes off a little unlikable in the beginning, he turns out to be okay. The Indian female lead is beautiful and charming. Rating: ![]() (From Tom's Random Reviews on June 24th, 2010) Very Bad Things, a review by Rich![]() Title: Very Bad Things Runtime:97 Certificate:18 Year:1998 Genres:Suspense/Thriller, Comedy Plot:Laura Garrety (Cameron Diaz) wants the wedding of her dreams and Kyle Fisher (Jon Favreau) wants to marry the woman he loves. But before that, his buddies (Christian Slater, Daniel Stern, Jeremy Piven and Leland Orser) decide to throw him an unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas. Kyle's last night of freedom involves booze, gambling, drugs and even a visit from a young stripper. When the stripper accidentally gets killed, the boys get led by Boyd into disposing of the '105 pound problem' in the desert instead of calling the police. Thus begins a darkly comic homicidal trail, dropped like lethal breadcrumb by writer-director Peter Berg in this audacious, sure handed motion picture debut. My Review: Strange film, sort of a whacky black comedy with violence and emotions. The set of guys who hit Vegas to have a drink and drug filled stag weekend include an impressive array of actors, and with Diaz playing the beautiful but ruthless bride to be you think this film can't go too wrong. The humour though misses the mark for me, it is quite warped and probably not to my personal taste. Some great performances from Slater and Diaz in particular raise the film above the mundane, and the script is fairly sharp and in your face. The ending was surprising and funny, and the whole film is a good description of when things go wrong, they keep going wrong! My Rating ![]() (From December Marathons - DISCUSSION AND REVIEW THREAD on December 7th, 2009) My PILOT Marathon, a review by Rich![]() STEP OUT OF THE SUNLIGHT AND A DARKER WORLD EMERGES. Like their CSI counterparts in Las Vegas, the CSI: Miami team, headed by lead criminologist Horatio Caine (David Caruso), tackles the fascinating, compelling approach to crime known as forensic science. Behind the sun, surf and palm trees lurks a captivating, 25-episode premiere season of spellbinding mysteries and baffling clues - all captured on DVD in this seven-disc collection of CSI: Miami - The Complete First Season. Disappointing pilot, too much glitz and glamour to the expense of suspense or reality. David Caruso is one of my least favourite actors, and his presence would always make me feel negative to the show. My daughter is hooked on all the CSI variations, but personally I find nothing in the few episodes I've seen and this particular pilot to draw me back with any enthusiasm. Everything seems all too easy, and convenient, and everyone so pretty and well dressed, that I can't buy in to it. ![]() (From My PILOT Marathon on September 25th, 2009) |
