My Thoughts:

A nearly 40 year old woman, lonely and lost in her work encounters a young artist who looks, sounds and acts like her high school sweetheart who died in a car accident 20 years before. This leads to a mismatched love affair that is brilliantly played and exciting to watch.

All I can say is WOW! Laura Linney knocked my socks off! I thought her totally incapable of a role like this as she mostly plays ultra serious, often fiercely miserable characters. Here she has achieved a complete unbridled sexual awakening and for the first time on film, for me at least, came across as a hot sexual creature. She shows us intense passion and vulnerability as she envelopes herself in this young man played by Topher Grace who was surprisingly up to the challenge of Linney's performance. Anyone who has ever had a tidal wave of lust, longing and obsession wash over them can't help but feel something for this movie.

Great supporting roles for the trio of Gabriel Byrne, Paul Rudd and Marcia Gay Harden who was fun as a saucy trollop.

The ending leaves you with a gigantic unanswered question that I believe was intentional so as to let the viewer create their own fanciful conclusion.

Highly recommended!

Underworld - Evolution, a review by Rich

8/11

Underworld - Evolution

The saga continues as the battle rages on between the aristocratic Death Dealers (vampires) and the barbaric Lycans (werewolves). This film traces the beginning of the ancient feud between the two tribes as the beautiful vampire heroine Selene (Kate Beckinsale) discovers that she has been betrayed by her own kind and must seek revenge. The fast-paced, modern-day tale of deadly action, ruthless intrigue and forbidden love takes her into the battle to end all wars as the immortals must finally face their retribution.

mmmmmmm Kate Beckinsale in leather and getting her kit off a few times, how can you go wrong?  :P
Very much similar to the first film, this mixes gory violence, stunning effects, gothic sex, with a pulsating pace that at times becomes confusing with bizarly complicated fight scenes and unfathomable storyline.
Saying this it is very watchable and makes a lot more sense by the end of the film, all in all a comfortable  ;D

08. I, Robot... You, Jane (1997-04-28)
Writer: Joss Whedon (Created By), Ashley Gable (Writer), Thomas A. Swyden (Writer)
Director: Stephen Posey
Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy Summers), Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia Chase), Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Robia LaMorte (Jenny Calendar), Chad Lindberg (Dave), Jamison Ryan (Fritz), Pierrino Mascarino (Thelonius), Edith Fields (School Nurse), Damon Sharp (Male Student), Mark Deakins (Voice of Moloch (voice))

Even though the story is ridiculous, this episode is enjoyable. Also we have the first appearence of Ms. Calendar :)

09. The Puppet Show (1997-05-05)
Writer: Joss Whedon (Created By), Dean Batali (Writer), Rob Des Hotel (Writer)

I always liked the twist, that Sid the dummy turned out to not be the demon but a demon hunter. First appearance of Quark. Armin Shimerman was perfect for the role of Principal Snyder.

This episode will always be the episode for me, where we get to see Buffy as a vampire. And I can understand Xander: She is still hot being one
