Secret Agent, a review by TomTitle: Secret Agent Year: 1936 Director: Alfred Hitchcock Length: 86 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: German: MPEG-2 Mono, English: MPEG-2 Mono Stars: John Gielgud Peter Lorre Madeleine Carroll Robert Young Percy Marmont My Thoughts: This movie didn't keep much of my attention. It may be because of the relative poor quality of the transfer. But what I liked about this movie is something, which most of the modern English-language movies seem not to be able to do anymore: Use actors who actually speak real German for the German roles. Rating: (From Alfred Hitchcock Marathon on April 13th, 2009) Madhouse, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Madhouse Movie Count: 74 TV Ep Count: 38 Other Count: 2 Time Started: 7am Plot: Masters Of macabre Vincent Price, Peter Cushing and Robert Quarry give performances to die for in this "diverting little chiller" ('Boxoffice')! When horror star Paul Toombes' fiancee is brutally killed, he loses more than his job... he loses his mind. But twelve years later, when he returns to TV -- only to discover a fresh batch of corpses -- Paul finally begins to understand that melodrama can be murder on your career! My Thoughts: Since Jimmy, a friend on one of the boards I posts these to, requested a review for this movie I thought it was about time for me to watch it. Being a Vincent Price movie alone is a good indicator that you will want to check the movie out at least once. This one I would say is a good movie... but not one of the best Vincent Price movies I have ever seen. I am glad I added it to my collection though. In this movie they show clips of what they say is clips from old Dr. Death movies... in reality they used clips from old Vincent Price movies, including "The Pit and the Pendulum", "Tales of Terror", "Scream and Scream Again" and "The Raven". Unfortunately for me.... there is several scenes with spiders. I hate spiders... I have arachnophobia pretty bad... so even the sight of spiders do tend to bother me at times. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 (From My Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon: 2008 on October 23rd, 2008) "Due South" marathon, a review by RickBird in the Hand A decent episode. I agree with Tom, if not for Fraser's Dad it would have just been a "meh" episode. Rating: The Promise Again I find myself agreeing with Tom. The episode was a bit boring. There was too much stuff going on. There were so many stories they could have told they ended up not doing well with any of them. Rating: (From "Due South" marathon on August 13th, 2009) |
