Dead Birds, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Dead Birds Movie Count: 43 TV Ep Count: 8 Time Started: 6:30pm Plot: When a group of criminals on the run after a bank robbery during the Civil War take refuge in an abandoned house they have no idea what evil they have come upon. Isolated and presumed deserted, the house is anything but safe... As the night wears on and a thunderstorm grows outside, each member of the group begins to have visions of the atrocities that occurred within the house, haunting it forever. Voices in the well, visions of mangled bodies and clawing under the stairs plague their waking hours. As the fear in the group begins to grow and the supernatural forces in the house start to manifest themselves, the group turn on each other and exact the wrath of the souls trapped within the walls. My Thoughts: This is another one I bought sight unseen for this month's marathon. This one I liked a lot! I felt it was very well done... it had a good atmosphere... a few good jump scenes... and a bit of gore all mixed together. And it worked well for it. I didn't know what to expect going into this one... but was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be willing to recommend this one to friends and family. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 Woohoo! I have now made it past the half-way point of my movie goal for this year! (85 movies) And today is only the 11th! Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78 Audio: German: Dolby Digital 5.1, German: Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo Subtitles: German Stars: Evelyn Hamann as Renate Lohse Loriot as Heinrich Lohse Loriot as Opa Hoppenstedt Loriot as Dichter Frohwein Loriot as Geigenspieler Plot:Awards: My Thoughts: This is a great movie. I always enjoy watching it. A lot of lines I often think of in everyday situations. This is one of two movies written and directed by and starring Loriot, a German humorist who had a successful sketch show in the 70s, which had a lot of phrases which are still being used today. This movie is about a guy, who is sent into retirement by his company after ordering enough typewriter paper to last 40 years just because it is cheaper this way. This suprising turn of events causes trouble with his wife who has to handle his excentricities now also during the day. This movie lives from how the lines are delivered. I could quote some of my favorite lines here, but through translation and conversion to printed form all the humor would probably be lost. After being briefed on the top-secret project, code-named Harsh Realm, Hobbes is given his objective: eliminate Major Omar Santiago, who has taken the game hostage. But upon entering Harsh Realm, Hobbes discovers he is trapped there - and theideadly game will never end unless he completes his mission. Pilot My Thoughts: This is another show I blind bought quite some time ago. And for some reason I only ever watched the first disc! I don't know why... I really enjoy the show. I found it to be very interesting. But for some reason after the first disc I just put it up and forgot about it. I like how in the pilot episode Chris Carter had X-Files Alumni Gillian Anderson doing the narrator of the video tape Hobbes watched. And then there was Millennium star Lance Henriksen as a commanding officer. Both uncredited cameos. One of these days I really need to watch this entire set!
