American Pie 2, a review by Dragonfire

Here's the pie you couldn't see in theaters! This special unrated edition of American Pie 2 is the comedy hit you'll want to watch again and again!

The characters you love are back! One year after the prom-night misadventures immortalized in American Pie, the entire gang has reunited for the summer. Now, an innocent-looking beach house will be transformed into the ultimate party central. Five guys will discover the powerful bonds of friendship...and Super Glue. Five girls will explore the mysteries of love...and the Rule of Three. And from late-night band camp encounters to some very accommodating next-door neighbors, this will be one summer vacation none of them will ever forget!

My Thoughts

This is an entertaining sequel overall that people who enjoyed the first movie will probably enjoy as well.

After finishing their first year of college, Jim, Oz, Kevin, Finch, and Stiffler return to their hometown.  Jim still hasn't had much luck with women, so he panics a bit when Nadia calls him to say she is coming to see him at the end of the summer.  He eventually decides to talk to Michelle about how he was when they had sex and she ends up trying to help him so he'll be better with Nadia.  Kevin decides it would be a good idea for them to rent a house at the lake for the summer and he talks his friends into it.  He is still hung up on Vicky and not dealing with their breakup well.  Finch has done fine with women while at college, but he is still a bit hung up on Stiffler's mom.  He starts studying tantra when he believes that he will have another opportunity with her.  Oz is happy with Heather, though they have to face being apart since she is studying in Europe for the summer.  Stiffler is just chasing after every woman he can like normal, including two he is convinced are lesbians.

The plot for the movie is rather simple, but it is entertaining.  Certain things are predictable, though there are a few surprises that pop up that keep things interesting.  Jim's horrible luck with sex continues and the movie begins with his attempt to have goodbye sex with a girl from college.  Things already aren't going well when Jim's dad walks in, followed by his mom and then the girl's parents.  During the movie, Jim has more mishaps.  Things go horribly wrong when he uses super glue at the wrong time, causing him to end up glued to himself.  There is a lot of sexual content in the movie, though really no actual sex scenes.  There is nudity in a few scenes and at one point, Stiffler is running around waving a sex toy.

There is a lot of humor throughout the movie, most of which is somehow tied to different sexual situations, like when Jim has his accident with the super glue.  Much of the humor is somewhat crude and gross, but it is very funny.  The humor won't appeal to everyone, but I think it works with what is going on.

The characters are mostly like they were in the first movie.  Kevin still bugs me a bit, especially with how he was moping around after Vicky.  She isn't in as much of the movie, which makes me happy since I didn't care for her that much.  Heather and Nadia also aren't around that much.  Stiffler is around more and acting like more of a jerk at times.  Oz doesn't do as much and Finch is mostly focused on his study of tantra.  Stiffler's mom does turn up again.

Overall, this is an entertaining funny movie, though it won't appeal to everyone.

Plot:
Nicknamed the "Not Ready for Prime Time Players," the original cast of Saturday Night Live ignited a comedy revolution with their mix of irreverent characters and satirical impressions of political figures and pop culture icons.

From the premiere of this groundbreaking sketch comedy show on October 11, 1975, live from historical Studio 8H in New York City's Rockefeller Center, Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Chevy Chase, Garrett Morris, Laraine Newman, and Gilda Radner launched themselves into instant stardom and were often referred to as "The Beatles of Comedy."

Created by Lorne Michaels over three decades ago, few other shows have had the cultural impact and relevance of Saturday Night Live.

Nowhere else can you see the complete first season of SNL, featuring hosts George Carlin, Rob Reiner, Lily Tomlin, Richard Pryor, Elliott Gould, Candace Bergen, or original musical performances by Simon & Garfunkel, ABBA, Patti Smith, Jimmy Cliff, and Carly Simon. And if you're curious as to how the original cast was hired, check out the DVD bonus features that include the screen tests of each performer.

The first ever SNL show. George Carlin is the host here, with some hit and miss jokes. My favorite part of this episode is the now famous Mightly Mouse skit by Andy Kaufman.
