Valentine, a review by addicted2dvd

Valentine
Revenge is sweet, just like a Valentine bonbon. At least, that is what a vengeful, Cupid-masked killer thinks. Be my Valentine...or else. Broken hearts and other mortal wounds await a cast of contemporary young stars when they play dating-scene veterans dying for love in this humor-laced, twist-filled thriller cleverly directed by Jamie Blanks (Urban Legend) and starring David Boreanaz (TV's Angel), Denise Richards (The World Is Not Enough), Marley Shelton (Sugar & Spice), Katherine Heigl (TV's Roswell) and more. Cards, candy and flowers are nice. But for fans of stalker-shocker terror, there's nothing like a Valentine.

TV Stars:
David Boreanaz (Angel/Bones)
Katherine Heigl (Roswell/Grey's Anatomy)

My Thoughts:
This is one I haven't watched since I first bought the movie 6 years ago... so I went into this one without remembering much of anything... and with low expectations...as the one thing I do remember is that this movie was not well received.... or mixed reviews at best. When I first got this movie I had no idea who David Boreanaz or Katherine Heigl were... as I got into their TV Shows late. While this is not the best slasher movie I ever seen... I did enjoy it. Unfortunately Katherine Heigl really didn't last all that long in the movie. Was hardly worth having her in it.  Other then the fact that of course she looked absolutely gorgeous. This is one I will have to keep in mind... maybe make it an annual viewing for Valentine's Day. Would probably make a good companion piece to watch with My Bloody Valentine.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Arthur Christmas, a review by Danae Cassandra

Arthur Christmas
Year of Release: 2011
Directed By: Sarah Smith
Starring: James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy, Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton, Ashley Jensen
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Animation

Overview:
How CAN Santa deliver billions of presents to the whole world in just one night? With an army of one million combat-style Field Elves and a vast, state-of-the-art control center under the ice of the North Pole! So how could this incredible operation have MISSED one child?! To Santa's young son, Arthur, it threatens to end the magic of Christmas. With retired Grandsanta, a rebellious young elf, an old sleigh and some untrained reindeer, Arthur sets out in a crazy mission to deliver the last present! Deck the halls with excitement, fun and wonder in this new Christmas classic!

My Thoughts:
This was a great, fun movie for the season. For being 5 years old now, the CGI still looks really good. The heart of the film is the relationships between the members of the Santa family, and the characters are pretty well fleshed for an animated film. It has a good story and lots of humor to keep it going as well. This has made it into my yearly rotation, and would be a good addition to the collection of any Christmas movie fan or any family with children.

Bechdel Test: Fail
Mako Mori Test: Fail

Overall: 3.75/5

A great episode... I enjoyed every second of it. I must admit... it didn't go exactly as I remembered it. But the outcome was the same. I especially enjoyed both the search for the needed sword as well as the fight with the Beast.
