Brüno, a review by RichTitle:Runtime:78 Certificate:18 Year:2008 Genres:Comedy Plot:My Review: One of the worst films I have ever seen, sick and tasteless, Cohen believes he is something special now, but has clearly run out of ideas and even his cheap tacky humour has sunk to an all time low where he thinks staged shock scenes and shots of his cock will raise publicity and laughter. This will offend all, without the edgy comedy that he brought with Ali G and Borat, it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Totally bereft of any intelligence or planning in the 'script', it stumbles from one appallingly staged scene to the next. Redefines a bad film - do not waste your time or money. My Thoughts: Over-all I enjoyed this one. While I knew this was a comedy horror... there was more comedy then I was expecting there to be. And the comedy in it was a bit hit and miss for me. And for those of you that it bothers the gore factor is definitely up there on this one. I found myself keep going back and forth on how much I actually enjoyed this one. In the end I came out in favor of... but there is definitely better out there. An informant reveals that this is just the tip of the iceberg as 20 bombs have gone missing. Kane has started training more pro-life groups within the UK and is planning more attacks. Meanwhile, Tom struggles with issues of duplicity and juggling two identities MI5 agents, living a different life every moment, facing a different threat every day. In the dangerous shadow-world of the intelligence community, the enemy is never far away. Hidden. Waiting. Planning. All MI5 have to go on are glimpses and fragments. Our lives depend on them seeing the full picture... Very impressive pilot, I was blown away with the excellent and techy start, and I thought on the whole all of the characters were promising. Missing some of the glossy finish of similar US shows like 24, this UK production based on pilot demonstrates solid storyline, dependable acting and a true feeling of topical realism sadly lacking in similar series. High calibre spy series, certainly worth a few quid investment. (From My PILOT Marathon on September 21st, 2009) |
