When Linda and Jerry LeBon move to the quiet and peaceful community of Bay Cove, they welcome the town's centuries old charm, virtually untouched by the conventions of modern life.

But something is different about the small village; something dark is lurking in the shadows. Extras:
Scene Access

My Thoughts:
As with most TV Movies this has it's share of familiar faces from TV Series. In this one we have Pamela Sue Martin (The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries), Barbara Billingsley (Leave it to Beaver), Woody Harrelson (Cheers), Jeff Conway (Taxi), Nigel Bennett (Forever Knight) and James B. Sikking (Doogie Howser, M.D.). This is one of my favorite TV movies in my entire collection. I have now watched it 6 times in the last 4 years since I bought it. I found the story to be interesting. It is not as scary as I would like... but there is a few eerie scenes. Unfortunately the DVD itself leaves a lot to be desired. No extras what so ever... not even any trailers. The Audio and video quality is fine but nothing to get excited about. But I guess that is to be expected from a low budget DVD release.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Dutch, a review by addicted2dvd

     Dutch (1991/United States)
IMDb |Wikipedia |Trailer |
Anchor Bay Entertainment (United States)
Director:Peter Faiman
Writing:John Hughes (1950) (Writer)
Length:108 min.
Video:Widescreen 1.85:1
Audio:English: Dolby TrueHD: 5.1
Subtitles:English

Stars:
Ed O'Neill as Dutch
Ethan Embry [Ethan Randall] as Doyle
JoBeth Williams as Natalie
Christopher McDonald as Reed
Ari Meyers as Brock

Plot:
Ed O'Neill of "Modern Family" stars as Dutch Dooley, a working-class good guy who's the new boyfriend of a wealthy big shot's ex-wife. But when the woman's spoiled son (Ethan Randall, of Can't Hardly Wait and Sweet Home Alabama, in one of his first film roles) refuses to come home from his Southern prep school for Thanksgiving, Dutch volunteers to pick the bratty boy up for a road trip back to Chicago that quickly goes hilariously wrong. From fireworks fiascos to hitchhiking with hookers, can a man who's really just a grown-up kid find a way to bring out the child in a little jerk?

Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore, "Harry's Law"), E.G. Daily (Valley Girl) and JoBeth Williams (The Big Chill, Poltergeist) co-star in this comedy hit written and produced by John Hughes (Home Alone, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation) and directed by Peter Faiman ('Crocodile' Dundee) about two strangers about to become best friends...with the scars to prove it!

Extras:
  • Scene Access
  • Feature Trailers

My Thoughts:

Sure... this is definitely not an award winning film.... but I enjoyed it. It is a fun and silly movie. It felt like a fun twist on the film Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Ed O'Neill was great as Dutch... and the kid was pretty good too. Definitely worth the time put in to watch it but there is better out there.

Pilot Season 2014-15, a review by DJ Doena

Halt and Catch Fire

Halt and Catch Fire @ Wikipedia
Halt and Catch Fire @ IMDb

Synopsis: Set in the early 1980s this is about three employees of a IBM PC clone manufacturer company who want to build a new kind of PC.
They start off reverse engineering the IBM BIOS and then go from there.
These three people are very different and yet excellent at what they do.

My Opinion: The real life's history of the show's name can be read on Wikipedia.
In the beginning I was a bit hard for me to actually care about the characters.
They appeared to be cardboard cutouts for Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak from Apple and an Angelina Jolie's Acid Burn from Hackers thrown in the mix.
But after a few episodes they really grew on me and towards the end of the first season I truly wanted them to succeed.
And it's very nostalgic to see them fight over every kilobyte of memory whereas nowadays? "8 gigs are too slow? OK, put in 16 gigs!" ;)
