Mohabbatein, a review by TomTitle: Mohabbatein Year: 2000 Director: Aditya Chopra Rating: FSK-6 Length: 206 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35 Audio: German: Dolby Digital Stereo, Hindi: Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: German Stars: Amitabh Bachchan Shahrukh Khan Uday Chopra Shamita Shetty Jugal Hansraj Plot: Raj Aryan (SHAHRUKH KHAN, FilmFare Award Winner) who stands for love, he would go to any lengeths for it and Narayan Shankar (AMITABH BACHCHAN, National Award Winne, Voted The Millennium Star in the BBC Polls) who stands for discipline and fear, he believes that love leads to pain and weakness. It is also the story of 3 young men and women who have to learn to follow their hearts against many odds and it is the outcome of their love stories that will decide what will finally triumph...Love or Fear. Awards:
Extras: Scene Access My Thoughts: This one has been a bit of a drag to get through. The three love stories for the young characters lag a little more depth. Too many love stories in one movie which should have focused more on a single one. And it didn't help that the young actors were not actually all that good. Also I think it would have benefited the movie, if they would have shown more flashbacks to the beginning of the relationship of Shahrukh Khan's and Aishwarya Rai's characters instead of having him constantly dance with her spirit. That approach worked well in Veer-Zara and Ghanjini, and would probably also have worked here. Also the turn of Amithabh Bachchan character from love-hating to encouraging love was too sudden. The whole movie he was shown as unwavering. But one speech close to the end of the movie later and suddenly he changes his complete mind on the matter. When the University downsizes the para-psychology department, Doctors Venkman (Murray), Stantz (Aykroyd) and Spengler (Ramis) make the leap from scientists to Ghostbusters, investigators and exterminators of paranormal pests! The bewitching Dana Barett (Sigourney Weaver) discovers her refrigerator has become a portal into the spiritual dimension, our heroes then come face to face with an ancient evil force with plans to raise hell in Manhattan!! My Thoughts: After my daughter just getting the new Ghostbusters Wii Game... and playing that with her for a little while... I found myself in the mood to watch this movie again. When I grabbed this DVD the realization that this movie is 25 years old now hit me... Wow! Do I feel old now! It has been a while since I seen this (6 years now)... I actually forgot how much I enjoyed this movie! This movie is full of fun and laughs. I thought everyone did a very good job in this one. And this collector's edition DVD that I watched is loaded with great extras for hours of fun. It is a great movie and great DVD release. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Anything Goes on June 19th, 2009) Tom's Random Star Trek Reviews, a review by TomDS9 4.20 Shattered Mirror Writer: Ira Steven Behr (Writer), Hans Beimler (Writer) Director: James L. Conway Cast: Avery Brooks (Captain Sisko), Rene Auberjonois (Odo), Michael Dorn (Lt. Commander Worf), Terry Farrell (Lt. Commander Dax), Cirroc Lofton (Jake Sisko), Colm Meaney (Chief O'Brien), Armin Shimerman (Quark), Alexander Siddig (Doctor Bashir), Nana Visitor (Major Kira), Felecia M. Bell (Jennifer), Aron Eisenberg (Nog), Carlos Carrasco (Klingon Officer), Andrew Robinson (Garak), James Black (Helmsman), Dennis Madalone (Guard) In this episode, Jake meets the mirror Jennifer Sisko (his mother). Though this is a nice idea and has a good payoff, they focused too much on this storyline for my taste. Still the episode was fun to watch. Though it is strange, how the rebels could build a perfect replica of the Defiant in such a short time. It is also sad to see mirror-Garak degraded to being the labdog of mirror-Worf.
