Friday the 13th Part 2, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Friday the 13th Part 2 Movie Count: 91 TV Ep Count: 45 Other Count: 2 Time Started: 10am Plot: Five years after the horrible blood bath at Camp Crystal Lake, all that remains is the legend of Jason Voorhees and his demented mother, who had murdered seven camp counselors. At the nearby summer camp, the new counselors are unconcerned about the warnings to stay away from the infamous site. Carefree, the young people roam the area, not sensing the ominous lurking presence. One by one, they are attacked and brutally slaughtered. Suspense and screams abound in this compelling thriller. My Thoughts: The second movie in the series is a good one. This one Jason doesn't have his infamous hockey mask yet. Instead it is a burlap sack. I am enjoying this one just as much as the first... if not a hair better. These films seem to strike a good nostalgia cord for me. It seems that no movies brings back the '80s for me more then the Friday the 13th movies for some reason. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 (From My Month Long Horror/Halloween Marathon: 2008 on October 29th, 2008) Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant (2009), a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: John C. Reilly as Crepsley Josh Hutcherson as Steve Chris Massoglia as Darren Jessica Carlson as Rebecca Michael Cerveris as Mr. Tiny Ray Stevenson as Murlaugh Plot: Welcome to the Cirque du Freak, a traveling sideshow filled with magical creatures, misunderstood freaks, and the mysterious vampire, Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly). Drawn to the dark, unpredictable world of the Cirque, 16-year-old Darren (Chris Massoglia) decides to trade in his ordinary life for a chance to become an immortal vampire. As Darren explores his newfound powers and faces unexpected enemies, he'll find that his existence as a memeber of the undead is filled with more challenges, suspense and fun than he ever thought possible. Based on the best-selling book series and co-starring Salma Hayek, Josh Hutcherson, Ken Watanabe, and Willem Dafoe, it's a fast-paced, suspenseful journey critics call, "Imaginative!" My Thoughts: This is one I never seen before. But with my love for all things vampires...I been wanting to check this one out since the first time I saw the trailer. It turned out to be a bit different then I was expecting. Not really a bad different.. but not really as good as I was expecting either. The movie plays with the vampire legend a bit... but that seems to be true about most vampire movies. I think the vampire legend gets changed to the story-teller's needs more so then any other. I did like the idea of the 2 different clans of vampires going to war. I also enjoyed all the different freaks that was in the movie. While I realize they didn't have time to really get into it... I would have liked to see some more on them. Maybe a bit of background info on at least some of them. From what I understand this is from a series of books. So while it did complete the storyline in this movie... it also left itself wide open for sequels. Which I hope will see eventually come out... because over-all while I was expecting a bit better... I still enjoyed the movie. My Rating Out of a Possible 5 Count: Movie Count: 1 TV Ep. Bad Juju At a moody voodoo-themed bar, Vicki meets Angelique, who asks for her assistance in finding her missing brother. With the help of Henry, they find themselves immersed in the world of voodoo dolls and human sacrifices. Guest Stars: Keith Dallas Francoise Yip Michael-Ann Connor Tommy Europe My Thoughts: Funny thing... This morning I watched the movie I Walked with a Zombie. Then this afternoon I decided to watch the next episode of Blood Ties... and what is it about... voodoo zombies. And I must admit... I liked how they done it in this show. And I am really starting to like the star of this show... Christina Cox. Her character in this show is a bit of a smart ass... which is always fun to watch.
