Plot:
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to camp... here's even more heart-pounding terror.

Five years after the horrible blood bath at Camp Crystal Lake, all that remains is the legend of Jason Voorhees and his demented mother, who had murdered seven camp counselors. At the nearby summer camp, the new counselors are unconcerned about the warnings to stay away from the infamous site. Carefree, the young people roam the area, not sensing the ominous lurking presence. One by one, they are attacked and brutally slaughtered. Suspense and screams abound in this compelling thriller.

Extras:
  • Scene Access
  • Closed Captioned

My Thoughts:
The second movie in the series is a good one. This one Jason doesn't have his infamous hockey mask yet. Instead it is a burlap sack. I enjoyed this one just as much as the first... if not a hair better. Once again... some good kill effects here. I especially liked how the guy in the wheelchair was taken out. I also liked how this one ended. Definitely worth the time put in to watch it.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

Crossing Over, a review by Rich

Crossing Over

Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones films) is on a quest for justice as an immigrations agent investigating the case of a missing illegal. In a cross-fire of crime and bureaucracy, fraud and murder, he must race against time to try to save a family from becoming collateral damage in the fight for the American dream. Critics rave, "Harrison Ford is terrific. An engrossing, thoroughly entertaining movie with great performances from a first-rate ensemble cast" (Pete Hammond, Hollywood.com). Co-starring Ashley Judd (Twisted), Ray Liotta (Smokin' Aces), Jim Sturgess (21), and Cliff Curtis (10,000 BC), Crossing Over will keep you riveted until the final mystery unfolds.

Average fare with Ford showing his age, and with his constant broodiness seen in several recent films not carrying it particularly well. What has happened to Liotta, did he get a welder to perform his plastic surgery?

For Americans some of the questions raised, and ironies and hipocracies shown surrounding immigration, will probably be more poignant than they were for me. But this storyline has been overdone in recent years, and typically better, and this just misses the mark in too many ways, it actually felt like a dot the dot formula for such a plot design.
Best to leave this one at the border  :-\

Tom's Random Star Trek Reviews, a review by Tom

VOY 3.08 Future's End, Part I
Writer: Brannon Braga (Writer), Joe Menosky (Writer)
Director: David Livingston
Cast: Kate Mulgrew (Captain Kathryn Janeway), Robert Beltran (Commander Chakotay), Roxann Dawson (Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres), Jennifer Lien (Kes), Robert Duncan McNeill (Lieutenant Tom Paris), Ethan Phillips (Neelix), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Tim Russ (Lieutenant Tuvok), Garrett Wang (Ensign Harry Kim), Sarah Silverman (Rain Robinson), Allan G. Royal (Captain Braxton), Ed Begley, Jr. (Henry Starling), Susan Patterson (Ensign Kaplan), Barry Wiggins (Policeman), Christian R. Conrad (Dunbar)

The first part of a two-parter which I have always really enjoyed. As you know, I love time-travel, and I think the episode plays well with it. Also this episode introduced me to Sarah Silverman and because of this episode I usually check stuff out with her in it.

VOY 3.09 Future's End, Part II
Writer: Brannon Braga (Writer), Joe Menosky (Writer)
Director: Cliff Bole
Cast: Kate Mulgrew (Captain Kathryn Janeway), Robert Beltran (Commander Chakotay), Roxann Dawson (Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres), Jennifer Lien (Kes), Robert Duncan McNeill (Lieutenant Tom Paris), Ethan Phillips (Neelix), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Tim Russ (Lieutenant Tuvok), Garrett Wang (Ensign Harry Kim), Sarah Silverman (Rain Robinson), Allan G. Royal (Captain Braxton), Brent Hinkley (Butch), Clayton Murray (Porter), Ed Begley, Jr. (Henry Starling), Susan Patterson (Ensign Kaplan), Christian R. Conrad (Dunbar), Majel Barrett (Computer Voice (voice))

The second part, although also fun to watch, is not as good as the first part. The first part had fun setting everything up. But the second part just was standard fare of getting everything back to how it should be.
This episode has lasting effect as it gives the doctor his mobile holo-emitter.
