Bloody Mary, a review by addicted2dvdBloody Mary When a group of psychiatric hospital nurses invoke the spirit of Bloody Mary-a supposed urban myth-the slaughter begins. First, a young nursing assistant disappears, her body never found. Now, patients are turning up dead-battered beyond recognition, soaked in blood, their eyes ripped out. Mary's wrath has begun. Freed from her eternal prison behind the mirror's reflection, she unleashes a murderous, maniacal fury upon the asylum. Moving at will through mirrors, she strikes when victims are unsuspecting, defenseless, and lone. Bloody Mary's legend is real, her vengeance is fatal, and to free her, all you have to do is say her name. My Thoughts: This movie I would say is only fair at best. I mean... it has it's moments... and an original idea thrown in here and there. And there is blood in it... not what I consider gory... but definitely has it's share of blood. One thing that was pretty aggravating to me at least was that you never really got a decent look at Bloody Mary. Besides all that... the acting leaves a lot to be desired. But as I said... it has it's moments. It is a movie I can see myself watching again... but not one I would watch very often. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85 Audio: English: Dolby Digital 5.1, French: Dolby Digital Surround Subtitles: English, French Stars: Will Ferrell Emma Thompson Maggie Gyllenhaal Queen Latifah Tony Hale Plot: Will Ferrell stars as Harold Crick, a lonely IRS agent whose mundane existence is transformed when he hears a mysterious voice narrating his life. With the help of Professor Jules Hilbert (Dustin Hoffman), Harold discovers he's the main character in a novel-in-progress and that the voice belongs to Karen Eiffel (Emma Thompson), an eccentric author famous for killing her main characters in creative ways. Harold must quickly track down Eiffel and stop her before she conjures up a way to finish him off. Extras: Closed Captioned Deleted Scenes Featurettes Scene Access Trailers My Thoughts: A wonderful movie. Very untypical for Will Ferrell. If you refused to watch it because it has Will Ferrell in it, do it now and you won't regret it. Another highlight in this movie is Emma Thompson as the novelist with a severe writer's block. Even Queen Latifah didn't annoy in this movie.Rating: (From Tom's Random Reviews on January 27th, 2009) My PILOT Marathon, a review by RichMALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE - SERIES ONE - PILOT First aired: 1/9/2000 Perhaps the most original sitcom pilot in recent years, this first episode combines sharp writing with a hyperbolic camera style reminiscent of Parker Lewis Can't Lose. Malcolm introduces us to his world, dominated by omnipresent schoolyard bully Spath and made worse by his enforced friendship with Stevie, an asthmatic wheelchair genius. When a battery of tests reveals that Malcolm has an IQ of 165, he is moved into Stevie's special accelerated class, despite his protests that "around here being intelligent is exactly the same as being radioactive." On the bright side, Malcolm discovers a practical application for intelligence when he and Stevie spontaneously hit on a solution to Spath's persistent tyranny. I have watched a few episodes on tv of this series, but never thought a great deal of it whilst watching ad-hoc. The pilot however I really enjoyed, similarities to the Wonder Years but having it's own identity, very entertaining with great jokes from all the characters, introducing Malcolm and his genius status. The subtle jokes like all the houses for sale around his, the in your face gags like the Dad having his back (and other bits) shaved at the breakfast table - very good stuff indeed. Overall, this is a good start to the series and I will probably watch it over time in parts. (From My PILOT Marathon on May 18th, 2008) |
