Chloe, a review by dfmorgan
Year: 2009 Director: Atom Egoyan Cast: Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried Overview: Catherine (Julianne Moore: Boogie Nights), a successful doctor, suspects her handsome music professor husband David (Liam Neeson: Taken, Clash of the Titans) is cheating on her. To lay her suspicions and fears to rest, she hires an irresistible young woman, Chloe (Amanda Seyfried: Mamma Mia!), to test David's fidelity. Chloe's torrid tales of her encounters with David lead Catherine on a journey of sexual and sensual re-discovery. But by opening the door to temptation, she puts her family in great danger... Watched: 25th. Dec 2010 My Thoughts: An erotic thriller. I guessed the first twist, but that may have been from comments here, but failed to spot the second. Apparently this is a remake of the French film Nathalie... which I have in my collection, in fact I'm sure I have watched it but cannot remember any details. I'll have to sort it out and (re)watch that to see how they compare. My Rating: A pretty good film so 3 (From Dave's DVD/Blu-ray Reviews on December 27th, 2010) Beverly Hills Cop II, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Beverly Hills Cop II: Widescreen Collection Year: 1987 Director: Tony Scott Rating: R Length: 103 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround, French: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround Subtitles: English Stars:Plot:Extras: Scene Access Feature Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Interviews Closed Captioned My Thoughts: This is a nice continuation to the series. One I enjoyed very much. Though it isn't quite as good as the first one. I must admit I did like the chase scene using the cement mixer. Especially when Axel asks if the "steering works on this thing"... Rosewood comes back with "I'm Steering!" then Axel asks if the "Breaks work on this thing?"... and Rosewood says.. "I don't Know... I haven't tried them yet!" But this one once again has some good action and some decent laughs... I definitely recommend it. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Anything Goes on April 3rd, 2010) Smallville Marathon, a review by addicted2dvdSeason 5: Disc 3: EPISODE 9: LEXMAS It's a wonderful life, Lex. A tragedy on Christmas Eve gives him a glimpse of a potentially happy future with wife Lana...if he makes the right choices. Meanwhile, Clark assists a disheartened Santa Claus. My Thoughts: This was a good episode... I enjoyed it more then I expected to when I originally heard that they were making a Christmas episode. It shows just how twisted Lex's mind really is. EPISODE 10: FANATIC Winning is everything. Defeat is not an option. A student supporting Lex's campaign has a fierce way of backing her candidate. Clark and Lana have a lovers' spat. My Thoughts: This was another good episode. Talk about twisted minds.... the college girl in this episode was truly twisted. EPISODE 11: LOCKDOWN Clark and Lana's uneasiness grows. But Lana and Lex grow closer as they hide in the safe room from rogue officers seeking the location of the spaceship. Jonathan learns of Lionel's ties to his campaign. My Thoughts: Yet another really good episode... between the spaceship arc and the run for senate arc... these episodes has only been getting better. Of course this movie rips off the movie Panic Room... but I think they did a really good job with it. EPISODE 12: RECKONING Clark reveals his secret, proposes to Lana, and she accepts. Too good to be true? Perhaps. Two profound tragedies rapidly follow. And, despite Clark's super powers, only one of them can be undone. My Thoughts: This will always be a good... but sad episode to me. One of my favorite characters gone. But I did like the way they did the episode. (From Smallville Marathon on August 12th, 2007) |
