The Promise of Love, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: The Promise of Love Year: 1980 Director: Don Taylor Rating: NR Length: 96 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: N/A Stars: Valerie Bertinelli Jameson Parker Andy Romano Joanna Miles David James Carroll Plot: A young widow of a marine killed in Vietnam learns to move on after getting a job with the director of the base's rec center. Extras: N/A My Thoughts: This is a TV Movie in a boxset that was given to me. It is a boxset of TV Movies from the '70s and "80s called Life Love and Romance: 12 Films of Intrigue and Passion. I wanted to check this one out because I grew up watching One Day at a Time with Valerie Bertinelli who stars in this movie. But there is a couple other familiar faces in this one as well. Craig T. Nelson and Shelley Long. As you could probably tell from the overview.... this one is pure drama. Heavy on the emotions. But it is pretty good. Some things in the story seemed to move pretty fast while other things were a little on the slow side. But I really liked Valerie Bertinelli in it. Thought she did a fine job... and she was as cute as ever in it. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Unwatched DVDs on August 27th, 2010) Sherlock Holmes, a review by RossRoy

Plot: ALF, the impetuous alien who plummeted from outer space into the Tanner family garage back in '86 is now crash-landing on DVD! Earth has just not been the same without this cosmic superstar and his wisecracking antics! Catch ALF in all 25 out-of-this-world episodes from the complete first season of his award-winning primetime TV hit. ALF 1.01 ALF Pilot Writer: Tom Patchett (Writer) Director: Tom Patchett Cast: Max Wright (Willy Tanner), Anne Shedeen (Kate Tanner), Andrea Elson (Lynn Tanner), Benji Gregory (Brian Tanner), Paul Fusco (ALF (voice, uncredited)), Liz Sheridan (Raquel Ochmonek), John La Motta (Trevor Ochmonek), Frank MC Carthy) I loved watching this show when growing up. It is still fun to watch from time to time. Too bad that the US releases (which I own) contain the cut syndicated versions of the episodes. At least in this pilot it was very noticable.
