Fatty and Minnie He-Haw, a review by addicted2dvd

Fatty and Minnie He-Haw
Fatty is courted by an enormous Indian princess, who proposes marriage.

My Thoughts:
This is my first time seeing anything with Fatty Arbuckle. While not bad, I think I was expecting a little more from it. I think the scenes with him in the saloon in town were better then the scenes of him at the Indian camp.

The DVD I watched this on could have used a bit more cleaning up. But then again considering this film is more then 100 years old (1914) they probably did the best they could with it.

My Rating:

Wyatt Earp, a review by Rogmeister

Wyatt Earp
Directed by Lawrence Kasdan
Music by James Newton Howard

Interestingly, this movie and another movie about Wyatt Earp called Tombstone both hit the big screen within a year or so of each other...maybe they both came out the same year...I'm not real sure.  But becasue they were released so quickly together, many people compared them together which may be an unfortunate thing.  I've yet to see the other film so I won't do that.  Unlike Tombstone, which I assume concentrates on one part of Wyatt Earp's career, this film (which was originally planned to be a TV mini-series and later turned into a feature film when director Kasdan came aboard.  Perhaps the span was too great for one film...it certainly is a long one, beginning when WSyatt was a teenager and ending a bit after the infamous Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (with a tacked-on finale with Wyatt in his later years following the Alaskan Gold Rush.  This film stars Kevin Costner as Wyatt with a terrific performance by Dennis Quaid as Doc Holiday who lost a lot of weight t play the ill doctor who was suffering from tuberculosis.  There's a lot of familiar names in this film from Isabella Rosselini (as Big-Nose Kate) to Tom Skerritt.  It's got some great photography and a great score and I can't complain about the direction.  But I do think the film is a bit long and includes perhaps too much.  Among the extras, in fact, are even more scenes that didn't make the final cut...here they call them "lifted" rather than deleted scenes for some reason.  There are also some other extras including a documentary and TV special.  My one gripe about the DVD is they divide the movie over 2 discs...at one point you have to take Disc 1 out and put in Disc 2 to continue watching the film.  But while I do think the film includes too wide a sweep, I must say I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would since I had read a few not-so-great reviews of this film.  This isn't the best Wyatt Earp film around but I did enjoy it.

Charmed Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd

Disc 5:

"How To Make A Quilt Out Of Americans"
Original Airdate: April 6, 2000
The sisters are asked by a family friend to stop a demon who steals skin from corpses, and soon learn that the woman is actually trading their powers for eternal youth and beauty.

My Thoughts:
A good episode... in this one you get to meet Gram's old coven... and just how much people will give up do to being elderly and sick. An elderly and sick witch tries to steal The Charmed Ones powers just to become young and healthy again. Piper... with all her love problems is sick of being a witch and is ready to call it quits.

"Chick Flick"
Original Airdate: April 20, 2000
The Halliwell sisters battle a demon who is bringing horror film characters to life and has called upon a knife-wielding corpse to kill them.

My Thoughts:
This is one of my all time favorite episodes. In this one a demon discovers he is able to go into movies and bring characters out into real life. So what does he do? He goes to horror movies. He brings out an Axe Murder from one movie... and Bloody Mary from another. Then sicks them on the sister... only problem... they are not real so can't be killed.

"Ex Libris"
Original Airdate: April 27, 2000
Phoebe tries to help the ghost of a former student who was killed by a demon wanting to stop the publication of the student's thesis proving the existence of evil.

My Thoughts:
Another episode I liked. One I liked the side story just as much (if not more) then the main storyline. This one has Cleavant Derricks (Sliders) guest starring. He is on the streets searching for a witness to the murder of his daughter.

"Astral Monkey"
Original Airdate: May 4, 2000
A doctor accidentally acquires the powers of all three Halliwell sisters during a blood transfusion and begins using them to harvest organs from innocent victims.

My thoughts:
A decent episode... but nothing really special here. Though I did like the way it picked up from the episode "Awaken". We find out what is done with the blood drawn from The Charmed Ones.
