Love Potion #9, a review by addicted2dvdTitle: Love Potion #9 Year: 1992 Director: Dale Launer Rating: PG-13 Length: 96 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital Surround, English: Dolby Digital Surround Subtitles: English, Spanish Stars: Tate Donovan as Paul Sandra Bullock as Diane Mary Mara as Marisa Dale Midkiff as Gary Hillary Bailey Smith as Sally Plot: In this charming romantic comedy, a brilliant but lonely biochemist (Tate Donovan) gets a mysterious potion from a gypsy who guarantees it will turn his life around. After showing it to his co-worker (Sandra Bullock), a shy animal psychobiologist, they achieve amazing amorous results in a chimpanzee experiment. Now the only way to see if it works on humans is to test it on themselves. Extras: Scene Access Trailers Featurettes Closed Captioned My Thoughts: After that last movie I felt like watching another Sandra Bullock movie. And this is the only other one I have in my collection I never seen before. I found it to be a decent movie... though there really nothing special about this one. There was something about Tate Donovan I didn't care for... which makes it a little hard to enjoy something like this since you don't care for one of the main 2 of the movie. Other then that... the story even though fun... is a bit out there. I did like Sandra Bullock in it though. Video: Pan & Scan 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: Mono Subtitles: Stars: Steve Martin (1945) Kathleen Turner David Warner Paul Benedict Richard Brestoff Plot:Extras: Scene Access Closed Captioned My Thoughts: Been a long time since I've seen this and while some of the funny slapstick moments have held up pretty good an almost equal amount are now pretty stale. Before I began watching this I instantly remembered the scene where the hooker throws open her coat to show Martin her gorgeous body that would be perfect for the brain of his beloved and then she starts to speak... haha! Loved that part! Kathleen Turner sure was a sexy vixen back then and it was rather ironic how this ended with her character looking rather plump as she admits to Martin that she is a compulsive eater. Definitely a harbinger of things to come for Turner. KC Rating: (From KinkyCyborg's Random Reviews 2011 on June 26th, 2011) Tom's TV Pilots marathon, a review by Tom
Plot: The man. The myth. The driver. Doug Heffernan (Kevin James) is THE KING OF QUEENS, but his wife Carrie (Leah Remini) really rules the roost. Doug is the ultimate guy's guy, but he loves Carrie so much he's willing to sacrifice his tricked-out rec room (plus his 70-inch TV) so that her father Arthur (Jerry Stiller) can move in, a decision he's regretted ever since. Doug's free time is split between quality time with his wife and play time with his buds. A parade of crazy neighbors and oddball citizens of New York's middle-class borough help make this show the reigning comedy champ. THE KING OF QUEENS proves you don't have to have a huge castle to live like royalty. The King of Queens 1.01 Pilot Writer: Michael J. Weithorn (Writer), David Litt (Writer) Director: Pamela Fryman Cast: Kevin James (Doug), Leah Remini (Carrie), Lisa Rieffel (Sara), Patton Oswalt (Spence), Larry Romano (Richie), Victor Williams (Deacon), Jerry Stiller (Arthur) This series is often fun to watch. The pilot though is nothing special. It sets up the premise, but wasn't really funny. Rating: (From Tom's TV Pilots marathon on June 4th, 2012) |
