My Thoughts: This is a film a good friend gave me. Being I am a huge vampire fan... I went into it hopeful... though before the movie I watched the trailer and wasn't too impressed by it which dashed my hopes a little. Unfortunately as hard as I tried I just couldn't get into this one. Matter of fact I didn't even make it to the end. The storyline had possibilities. It could have been a decent film. But I found I didn't care about any of the characters... and found the acting to be on the stiff side. I will rate this one a 0.5 for the story idea alone. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From What Movies I Been Watching on June 30th, 2013) Under the Roofs of Paris, a review by Danae CassandraUnder the Roofs of Paris (Sous les toits de Paris) Year of Release: 1930 Directed By: Rene Clair Starring: Albert Prejean, Pola Illery, Edmond Greville, Bill Bocket, Gaston Modot Genre: Drama, Romance, Musical Overview:Under the Roofs of Paris is an exhilarating celebration of filmmaking and one of France's most beloved cinematic exports. My Thoughts: This is an early sound film, so it very much comes off in style as a silent film. Clair is sparing with his use of sound, but he uses it in interesting ways so as not to give up the freedoms of camera movement. The filmmaking here is unique and excellent. Clair's camera and vision make Paris the uncredited co-star here. Sadly, the story isn't quite as good as Clair's filmmaking, as its a fairly conventional one of a beautiful girl and the men who vie for her attention. The actors all do a good job, and don't come off quite as hammy as most silent actors. I enjoyed the film, and it's an important work historically, but I'd only recommend it if you like silent cinema (even though it's a talkie). This will not be in any particular order... just whatever shows the mood hits me for. Adventures of Superman Pilot:: Superman on Earth Recounts Superman's flight from doomed Krypton, being raised by the Kents, his arrival in Metropolis, and getting hired as reporter Clark Kent at the Daily Planet when scooping Lois on Superman's debut. My Thoughts: The first episode of this series decided to start at the very beginning... the destruction of Krypton and Arrival of Superman on Earth. Was definitely a good episode. There was however 1 very big noticeable difference from any other Superman show or movie I ever saw before... for some reason the Kents name is Eban and Sarah Kent instead of the normal Johnathan and Martha. Which is something I found strange but didn't take away from the enjoyment of the show any. Fanale:: All That Glitters What if? After a whack to the head, Jimmy dreams he and Lois has the same powers as the Man of Steel. My Thoughts: This was basically no more then a fun episode. I definitely enjoyed seeing Jimmy and Lois with Superman's powers. It kinda gave me a chuckle. The finale of this series was no different then any other episode... leading me to believe that when it aired they most likely didn't realize the 6th season would be the series last. though who knows for sure... what with the age of this series... they could have done things differently back then.
