Divine Intervention, a review by JimmyTitle : Divine Intervention (2007) Overview Steve Reynolds, strung out on drugs, experiences a divine vision and becomes inspired to embark on a ruthless quest of recruiting people into the Lord's Army. A sinner in his midst gets two options - prayer or the crossbow. Fighting off his own compulsive demons as well as a checkered past, Steve brings the word of the Lord down on the sinners of Ware, MA one arrow at a time. Will Steve save any souls with his own brand of vigilante divinity? Only God knows. My Impression This is one of those movie were I root for the bad guy (even if he is a nutcase). Why? Because his target is a bunch of stupid teenagers from the internet generation (sorry for our younger members) and I've learned to hate them at my previous night job. I despise their language, their stupidity and the lack of respect they have for their elder... So I was sure happy to see a bunch of idiot drunk and stoner killed by a crazy religious guy, too bad that he didn't kill them all. For the film itself the acting isn't that great, the effect aren't too bad for this kind of movie (look normal and not over the top) and we got some nice looking girls for some gratuitious nudity. One of the girl who can act is the everyday kind of girl who is usually my type (some picture attached). A nice way to pass 80 minutes Rating : (From Jimmy's 2009 Horror Marathon on October 8th, 2009) Scanners, a review by addicted2dvdScanners Welcome to the world of the Scanners -- a race of humans with telekinetic powers that can wreak havoc beyond your most dreaded nightmare. Writer/director David Cronenberg (The Fly, Naked Lunch) brings the terror closer than ever before - he brings it right into your mind. Cronenberg is a modern-day horror master whose name fits easily with the likes of King, Craven and Carpenter...and Scanners, with its spectacular and shockingly realistic special effects, is a startling masterpiece of the genre. When a rogue Scanner of unparalleled power (Michael Ironside) wages a bloody war against the "normals," young empath Cameron Vale (Stephen Lack) is recruited to track him down. But Vale is inexperienced -- and a battle with another Scanner could mean a grisly death...or worse. Can Vale vanquish his insanely violent, power-mad adversary? Only one thing is certain: Scanners "delivers chills-down-your-spine, heart-in-your-throat, you-can't-watch-but-you-daren't-leave goods" (Time)! My Thoughts: This is another one that I know I have seen back when I was a teen.... but it has been at least a good 20 to 25 years since I seen it! So I went into this one not remembering anything other then the fact that I liked it when I was a kid. I still enjoyed it... but it was a little more on the slow side then I remembered. Not really the best movie I ever seen... but I have seen worse. My Rating: Out of a Possible 5 (From Weekend Movie Marathon: Unwatched DVD's on December 21st, 2008) Sliders Marathon, a review by addicted2dvd21. THE OTHER SLIDE OF DARKNESS Sliding into a world where a mysterious fog covers half the land, the Sliders find Rickman and the Quinn that, in the Pilot episode, taught Quinn the mechanics of sliding. My Thoughts: While a somewhat weird episode... it is a good one. I did ejoy it. Though it is not the best episode I ever seen. Wade and Maggie is still in the outs at this point. My Rating: 22. SLITHER Remmy and Quinn, on a short vacation together, need to get back to Maggie and Wade for the slide, and hitch a ride with a wildlife smuggler. When the plane crashes, Wade and Maggie hook up with the smuggler's partner and go in search of the group. My Thoughts: This is another one I didn't care for quite as much as the others. I don't know why... but this one just didn't keep my intrest as much. My Rating: 23. DINOSLIDE The Sliders find what's left of the colony from Rickman's world. But Rickman is there, too, claiming more victims, as are the dinosaurs that inhabit this world. My Thoughts: This is a good episode. In this one we get an update on the colonists... and have some dinosaur fun as well! My Rating: 24. STOKER The Sliders arrive on a world where vampires are real, and where Rickman is up to his old tricks - but refined by access to a blood bank My Thoughts: They are vampires... what do you think my thoughts are?... I loved it! But why did they have to make the vampires a rock band? At least while there is some music in the episode... they really didn't over do it. My Rating: 25. THIS SLIDE OF PARADISE The sliders land on an island populated by half-human, half-animal hybrids. Rickman is on this world, and has had to resort to using the mixed DNA for his sustenance, resulting in his own animal-like appearance. My Thoughts: This is a pretty good conclusion to the season. I know this episode was a rip off of a movie. Though can't think of the name of it especially since I never seen it. But what really got me was the season end cliffhanger that really got me wanting to start the next season. My Rating: (From Sliders Marathon on November 25th, 2009) |
