Memory, a review by KinkyCyborgMemory Title:Memory Year: 2005 Director: Bennett Davlin Rating: R Length: 98 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: DTS: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: Stars: Billy Zane Tricia Helfer Ann-Margret Dennis Hopper Terry Chen Plot:Extras: Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Featurettes Storyboard Comparisons Closed Captioned My Thoughts: I made two wrong assumptions with this movie. The first being that I thought it was a horror movie, when in fact it was a whodunnit thriller and the second being I thought this would be a crap STV movie, and while it was straight to video it was actually quite good. Excellent cast with Billy Zane, Ann Margaret, Dennis Hopper & Tricia Helfer who looks so much more gorgeous as a brunette! This deals with the belief that with some help, memories can be passed on to children through aspects of DNA so that they may see things that happened well before they were born. Enter Taylor Briggs (Zane) who starts having disturbing visions that reveal a string of child abductions dating back over 30 years. Slowly he starts connecting the dots, mostly on his own as he finds few who will believe his strange 'second sight' or who will help him. This was low budget but graced with tense storytelling. The light bulb doesn't go on until minutes before the ending which was great as I love movies that leave you guessing right up to the end. For a cheapie movie that I picked up for next to nothing, it was an impressive film. KC Rating: (From KinkyCyborg's Random Reviews 2011 on May 21st, 2011) On the Double, a review by addicted2dvd
Stars: Danny Kaye Dana Wynter Margaret Rutherford Diana Dors Plot: American GI Ernie Williams, admittedly weak-kneed, has an uncanny resemblance to British Colonel MacKenzie. Williams, also a master of imitation and disguise, is asked to impersonate the Colonel, ostensibly to allow the Colonel to make a secret trip East. What Williams is not told is that the Colonel has recently been a target of assassins. After the Colonel's plane goes down, the plan changes and Williams maintains the disguise to confuse the Nazis about D-Day. Extras:
My Thoughts: I watched this one last night on Amazon Prime. Watching it I don't know that I personally would consider this one a musical but both Amazon Prime and IMDB has it listed as a Musical Comedy. I must say I just wasn't that impressed with this film. I am actually surprised how high the rating for it is on IMDB. I personally didn't find it very funny or very musical. But there is a fair share of music in it so I am including it in the marathon. Though this is not one I see the need to ever watch again. See no sense in adding this one to my collection. Rating: (From July Movie Marathon: Musicals (Yes... Harding Welsh), Camilla Scott (Inspector Margaret Thatcher), Tony Craig (Detective Jack Huey), Tom Melissis (Detective Dewey), Ramona Milano (Francesca Vecchio), Gordon Pinsent (Fraser Sr.), Dean McDermott (Constable Turnbull), Philip Granger (Tim Kelly), Tyrone Benskin (Jeff Storey), Clare Coulter (Barbara Kowalski), Dan MacDonald (Derek Kowalski), Gordon Tootoosis (Quinn), Matthew Bennett (Jack Goody), Trevor Blumas (Young Fraser), Michaela Mathieu (Diane Bowen), Garfield Andrews (Bruce Card) Better than the previous episode. It has more of the spirit of a Due South episode. Also Francesca had more screentime, which is always a plus. Rating: (From "Due South" marathon on December 30th, 2010) |
